📍Kaivokatu 2
Named after the ancient Greek goddess Adennum, the building itself is a Baroque work of art, Adennum Museum is Finland's most famous art museum, can be called Finland's Louvre.
Very traditional European art museum, traditional architecture, traditional layout, traditional exhibits. But the quality of the exhibits is still excellent, and you can see the real van Gogh up close. Local children can also be seen painting with brushes. It's a place worth spending a few hours exploring.
The Adennum Museum was the first gallery I went to in Finland where I had to queue for admission, but I have to say it was pretty good. I went on Saturday morning and waited in line for half an hour to get in. It's free because of the museum card.
The museum ticket is very interesting, is printed the famous painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela's work "Lemminkainen's Mother" part of the sticker ticket, quite commemorative.
Compared with the collections in the museum, the museum itself is also very valuable to watch, and the busts of three classical artists, Raphael, Bramante and Phidias, are carved above the main entrance. The museum itself is beautiful and loved even more than the exhibition 🤩
The Collection on the 1st and 2nd floors :A Question of Time. The collection was sorted out according to different themes. The integration of the venue and works was also done well, and the exhibition itself became a good work! After reading it, I felt that I had glimpsed a corner of Finnish history.
The third floor Impressionist special exhibition Color&Light (2023.10.20-2024.2.25) Most of the works of Alfred William Finch, but also some works by Monet, Pissarro, Renoir and others. It's a little bit less fun to watch.
There are mezzanine 1/2 floors in the floor, if you do not pay attention to it, it is easy to wander dizzy, and even suspect that you missed. There is a bag locker next to the ticket office, and a place to hang clothes is convenient.
There are also free performance art performances at UrbanApa. Although many performance art performances did not understand, but the performance atmosphere is really very good and lively, the exhaustion of the week disappeared.
Most are by Finnish artists, but not all. There are many classic "Finnish landscapes", "Finnish people". It's interesting to see what Helsinki and other Finnish cities used to look like, based on photos and drawings.
For example: the Fazer Cafe in 1931; The southern harbour of Helsinki in 1925; Then there's the fact that the kitchen in the 1969 painting is exactly the same size, layout and unwashed dishes in the sink as the kitchen in the apartment I live in now.
This gallery is very different from other contemporary galleries in Finland, very classical, very orthodox feeling, it is worth visiting, you can see a lot of different genres of art expression techniques!
