After 4 years, I finally went to the most interesting art gallery in Finland!

📍 Mannerheimintie 22-24, 00100 Helsinki

Four years later, Amos Rex is finally open.

This museum in Helsinki was designed by JKMM Architects from Finland. In fact, it is a complex of old building renovation + new building expansion. There are many beautiful art galleries, but there are few in the world that are built underground and are particularly beautiful. Designed by JKMM of Finland, this gallery is absolutely stunning.

Art museum generally do not need to make an appointment, you can buy tickets on the spot, the ticket price is 20💶/ person.

The old building is the historic Lasipalatsi building from the 1930s, and the main space of the new gallery is placed underground, with a roof exposed. Due to urban development reasons can not be expanded on the basis of the old building, the designer simply dug the underground space directly, and the opening exhibition is to attract the wonderful digital exhibition of teamLab Japan, which can be said to earn enough topics.

As an urban public space, the huge and beautiful lighting window also introduces light and scenery to the underground exhibition hall. As a ground-based reminder, there's an art gallery down there.

Located not far from the Central Train Station, this is a must-visit for me in Helsinki! The sun shines well in summer, and there are many sunbathers in the square outside the museum, and children running on the rolling slopes.

The first time I went to Helsinki in 2019, I was attracted by the super-sci-fi appearance of this underground art museum. Because amos is underground, there are many glass tubes sticking out of the ground for lighting, and it is also an outdoor park where people can bask in the sun and read books on the slope of the large tube. I call it the Glass House Gallery for short, next to the Campi Chapel in the city center, and the whole ground is a circular square with round glass Windows and cute little green man sculptures.

The ceiling of the large exhibition hall feels like it is borrowed from the marimekko pattern, which is very lovely.

Look up at the top and be shocked, kind of like looking at the world through a telescope. There are two different theme Spaces, which is really amazing for me who likes modern style. Besides the art exhibition, the interactive part is my favorite!

In a space surrounded by light gauze, everyone can lie on a comfortable bed, and a soft support will be placed on the stomach, and the sound in the headset will resonate with the same frequency, which is very healing! In the light gauze surround, lie on the soft bed, put a silicone carrier on the stomach, wear headphones to feel the sound resonance and emotions, very relaxed, go to the sister must feel it.

The interior of the museum is not large, but it has a very design sense, just like its appearance, avant-garde and creative, and the exhibition is basically the latest works of Finnish designers and painters, as well as various animations and installations.

Even on weekdays, there are a lot of people to see the exhibition, most of them are middle-aged and elderly people with gray hair and primary and middle school students who come to art classes, and even many elderly people sit in wheelchairs. The gene of art is really engraved in the bones, and I like this atmosphere very much.
