How far north is the world

The world's northernmost zoo

Many people come to Rovaniemi will choose to hike the National Forest Park, but friends set out to travel the front leg a little injured we gave up hiking, directly chose the world's northernmost zoo!

The whole zoo is like a kingdom of ice and snow, the park is not so huge, slowly walk down just, will not feel very tired. In the winter, most of the animals seem to be dormant, the zoo is very quiet and few people, and the animals need to carefully search in the snow to see it.

❄️ entrance of the service area catering is self-service, adults 14 euros, the food can be full, delicious is not expected.

There are not many buses from Rovaniemi to the zoo every day, be sure to book in advance, generally everyone starts at 9 o 'clock in the morning, about an hour's drive, and then book the bus back to the city center at 2:30 p.m., if you can't book the bus at 4:30 p.m., the zoo is very small, less than 4:30, so you can book as early as possible!

It's the peak travel season in Finland, so many foreigners are arriving. So the first thing to get off the bus, go straight to the ticket center to buy a ticket, the ticket is actually a bracelet, wearing on the hand can be unlimited access.

After buying the ticket, you can enjoy lunch first, and there is only one restaurant, which is a buffet lunch, except for some complex coffee (cappuccino, etc.) and tea need to be charged, other can be eaten. After eating, you can enter the garden!

The total length of the zoo is 2.8km, which takes about 1 and a half hours. A lot of animals hibernate, but you can also see a lot of amazing animals in winter!

We were lucky enough to see the staff feeding the owl, the scene of it flying over to hunt, and the fox playing happily with the snow, we can see that the animals are very happy! And the scenery inside the zoo is super good, feeling not lost on foot, not hard on foot.

Husky sledding is the most popular tourist activity, so there are many husky farms. Farm dogs are made for sledding and compete in many races.

In fact, there are many kinds of sled dogs, Harbin dogs pull the plow with Alaska sled dogs, thick hair, large body size, lack of endurance; And we often say that the Erha (Siberian sled dog) has a dog and Wolf hybrid, although the body size is smaller than Ala, but it is a natural athlete, all year long in the middle and long distance competition dominated.

In addition to these two breeds, there are many other sled dogs in Rura, such as the horizontal Samoyed, Greenland dog, Norwegian deerhound, and so on. Alaska is not the most suitable for sledding, and the proportion of active sledding teams is quite low, which belongs to selling cute.

Dog pulling plow is 1-2 dogs pulling a car, the car sitting 1-3 people; In Finland, 5-8 dogs usually pull a sled, and the seat is limited to 1-2 people. The exact number of dogs in the team is divided according to the friction of the road ice and snow and the weight of the passengers, too heavy dogs will be very tired, too light and can not brake the car easily out of control.

The dog treatment... All I can say is that Finnish dogs are well fed 😂 On good farms in Finland, dogs are taken care of exactly like sportsmen: in single or standard rooms, with their names written on the door. The food is rich, salmon, fish oil, reindeer liver and heart, beef, chicken, vitamins according to the scientific ratio, and there is a special company to deliver meals to dogs. Usually 100 kilometers will burn several pounds of fitness meals.

Dog pulling plow is a lot of domestic dogs, raising scale should not be large; Finnish farms tend to be larger. The one we've worked with for the longest time has nearly 200 dogs, and the farmer and trainer can call each one by name. Who the siblings are, who their mother is. The dog fights, the coach calls a long way away immediately cute.

Age division: young dogs in the school stage, can not pull sleds; The main team is the elite dog team, every year to participate in international competitions, such as the North European Husky cross Country Marathon (1200km finish), the farm wall can see the dog's finish medal. The guests are pulled by the youth team, which will participate in the 200/400 km middle and long distance race.

Each puppy has its own training plan, which time of day to run how many kilometers, the dog's rank in the team, the coach knows. So actually... We just give the dog weight training tool man 🤣

The number of visitors on this farm day is limited, and too many people will exceed the dog's training plan. The advantage is that the experience is really good and the scenery is beautiful. One last comment... Finnish dogs love work, and are so excited to be chosen to pull a sled that they can soar to the sky 😂 and cry tears of envy from their peers
