The ice castle of Rankemi

Ice Castle is a large ice and snow art boutique project located in Kemi, Finland, and is the world's largest fortress-shaped building made of ice and snow as raw materials.

The ice castle was first built in 1996 and immediately attracted 300,000 visitors. Since then, the city of Kemi has built ice castles every winter, and has become one of the most famous winter tourist attractions in Finland.

The ice castle is set to a different theme every year, with a total floor area of about 13,000 to 20,000 square meters. The ice castle is made from the frozen waters of the Gulf of Kemi. The 2014 Ice castle was built by Chinese ice sculptors.

The Ice Castle is open every day of the year and is a 15-minute drive from the Sampo icebreaker. There are magnificent ice carvings, ice restaurants, ice chapels and ice hotels. They all come from ice and snow.

Floating on sea ice
