Catch the sea at PEL! Fishing! Be an islander in Canada for a week!

North America, Canada, Prince Edward Island, sea, fishing, travel, outdoors, fun

As an angler, last year came to Hafa fishing fish, this year to PEI catch the sea, really super happy! Drive 16 hours from Toronto to Prince Edward Island to experience the joy of the sea. There are three famous spots on the island: Tea Hill, Pinette and Victoria. The most famous one is Tea Hill, and we went to Tea Hill.

ea hill beach and Rice point are both far from cavendish, it takes 40 to 50 minutes by car, so we went to experience it once, I chose Tea Hill beach because the online guide is more complete. Before going to check the tide of the day, I heard that it is better to catch the sea below 0.5m, and the tide level before and after the 15th lunar calendar will be relatively low. The day we went happened to be the 13th lunar month, and the lowest tidal level of the day was 0.4m.

To catch the sea need to prepare:

  1. Search tide time Charlottetown for tide time. Just around low tide.
  2. The equipment must be local dollarama can be done, buy a small shovel, a small iron bucket and gloves. On the first day without gloves, I cut my hand on a razor clam when I reached for it. Of course, you can also buy a package of salt, just low tide, see the razor clam hole salt may be useful. We're too late. Razor clams are too deep for salt. We have to shovel.
  3. You can also go to the local sport intention to buy a pair of wetshoe. Bare feet are OK, but you need to be careful not to prick your feet with sharp shells when walking.
  4. There are a lot of clams and razor clams here, and you need to check the local fishing regulations in advance, and no more than 100 per person per day.
  5. Buy a bucket, although I don't think people will dig much when they travel, but still respect the rules to buy a bucket (one per person is the safest)

Clam in the water for a few hours to raise sand can spit clean, razor clams basically need to stay overnight, too much sand. The clams and razor clams here are not very fishy, and the steaming is very sweet. It is best to bring a big steamer, in addition to steaming, bring some garlic paste, curry coconut milk or fragrant pot seasoning, you can also do a variety of flavors. Eating by the sea with lemon's favorite chili sauce. You can buy it raw with an oyster shucker knife and a cadianian tire.

Method of catching the sea

After the beach, go directly to the deepest, the deeper the more things, the bigger, the girl may not dig, it is recommended to take a boy.

It is recommended to take salt, razor clam salt is better to pull out, it is easy to break off with bare hands or shovels... The hole on the beach after the ebb is the location of the razor clam, no salt this guy runs very fast. You can pick up seashells in the water. But be sure to be early, go late, you can only go deep to pick up. When I saw a small hole in the dry sand, I dug it down with my biggest shovel and as hard as I could. No accident should be able to see the razor clam (my mantra is fast and ruthless, but a little easy to break).

The clams are not in the rocks, but are looking for sediment on the edge of the beach. Take a spade, rummage through the sand, Manila Clam (clam) size should be more than 3.5cm.

Shells are more random, and can be picked up directly in the sea. But be sure to be early, go late, you can only go deep to pick up. (I can't find any pattern but there is more depth), and dig out where there is a stomata. Shellfish are sharp. Wear gloves to protect yourself. Finally, pay attention to sun protection, warm, pay attention to safety!

Pick up oysters, the more oysters you go north, the better to walk 100-200m north after the beach. The best oysters are "picked" in the sea, not hard "dug/chiseled" on the shallow reef. The deeper the water, the fatter the oyster, and it is easier to pick it up directly in the sea, and it is not easy to scratch your hand. Oysters near the shore are leaner. Digging oysters is a lot easier than you think, because there are so many of them, and when the tide goes out, they are everywhere, and you have to walk on them. Digging for shells is also to dig out where there are stomata. Pay attention to the time of rising tide in advance on the Internet.

Let's talk about deep-sea fishing. This one I think is really great. Dad is a veteran fishing fan, so I specially booked this project in PEI, Google directly search Prince Edward Island deep sea fishing. Make sure you reserve your place, at least two or three days in advance. I booked 2 days in advance, mainly in case of bad weather can not go to the Sea, when I arrived in Prince Edward Island, I found that there were no seats before I wanted to book, and finally called Aiden's Deep Sea Fishing, there were two seats, and I quickly booked.

The three-hour experience will first go fishing for some small fish as bait, and then go to the deep sea to fish for big fish, about an hour or so. Dad is the only one who caught 5 fish in the two fish boats, and also caught a special fish, of course, this fish is not allowed to take away, and was put back into the sea after visiting a circle on the boat, because dad caught the most, so finally got the most fish. There are also many projects in deep sea fishing, and you can also experience fishing for lobster and tuna. Of course you can't take these with you. In addition, the fish caught after August 1 can be taken away, and the fisherman will deal with it clean before getting off the boat. Freshly fried fish pieces are really delicious when eaten hot!

It's nice to be an islander sometimes.
