Some Toronto farm picking tips to share! In mid-June, I went to Downey's farm and found that there was nothing to pick, so after a series of guides, I summarized 6 farms around Toronto that could be picked and the time to pick them for everyone! Let's have a look! Remember not to miss the best picking time!
🍒Sun Valley Farms
📍 1186 Hwy 8, Winona, ON L8E 5K2
Fees: small box 30, medium box 40, large box 50
Variety: Cherry, strawberry, raspberry, potato, pea, pumpkin, etc
Time: Monday to Friday 9am-6pm Weekends 8am-5pm
This is the closest cherry farm to Toronto and is expected to open in late June to mid-July! Cherry orchard trees are relatively short, very suitable for parents to take children to pick!
Based on Cherries, both good and bad cherries are present -- only two small areas contain ripe cherries, as well as a tart cherry -- and the New Brunswick Orchard we picked has been heavily removed, with some at the top ripe enough to rot, but most cherries are fine.
It's not bad, juicy, sweet with a bit of acid, but it's not big! The height of the cherry is suitable for children, pick very happy, but the price is high, cost-effective is not very high.
Remember to bring water, you can eat while picking. Remember to take an umbrella when the sun is big, it will be very hot! Mosquitoes are not much, it is best to wear trousers and sneakers!
🌻Robintide Farms
📍2720 King Vaughan Rd, King City, ON is close to both Vaughan/Richmond Hill
Varieties: Strawberries, raspberries, peas, beans, mung beans, potatoes, squash, corn, etc
Time: Monday to Friday 9am-6pm 8am-5pm Weekends
The strawberries picked here before were also very sweet, which ended in early August, and now the sunflower fields are open in mid-August and should be open until early September!
Navigate to Robintide Farms and turn in when you see the sign. There are lots of Parking Spaces. Public restrooms are only available next to the parking lot. Need to walk a short way to go inside another white tent to buy tickets, parking lot down will have staff directions, just look at sunflowers on $5.25/ person, four people and more on $4.5/ person, do not book online directly on the line, you can swipe card, unlimited time!
At present, there are two areas open, zone 1, in the middle of August, the sunflowers here are relatively large, there is no high platform to look at, but more like a maze, there are many roads and forks, you can see the left and right side of the sunflowers, there will be a wooden tent in the middle can take photos.
In area 2, the flowers here are relatively new and smaller, but some are quite full, and there are many branching roads like maze. There are many minions paintings, picture frames and other paintings in this area, which are suitable for big friends and children to take photos. Maybe the flowers will bloom better in the next week or two. The minions are really cute!
There will be fewer people in the morning, be sure to do a good job of sun protection, it is best to wear sunglasses and a hat. A lot of bees, but do not bite people, anti-mosquito liquid can be sprayed a little, there is mud on the road is dry but relatively soft, to wear a good walk and do not love dirty shoes.
🍒Cherry avenue Farms
📍4303 Cherry Ave, Vineland Station, ON L0R 2E0
Varieties: Cherry, apricot, peach, Red heart Bolin, blue plum, nectarine, etc
Time: Monday to Friday :8am-7pm Saturday 7:30am-7pm Sunday 7:30am-6pm
I picked cherries once a few years ago, and the experience was very good, so I chose here this year. This year is mainly running yellow cherries to go, the last time only picked red cherries, so have been heart to mind. Admission is $10 per person (although the website mentions that it will go up to $12 per person this year) and includes a small size basket. The announcement on their official website stressed that because of more rain this year, most of the cherries are cracked, and the feeling may not be very good, I did not expect to go and not as bad as they said, although the cracked cherries are indeed a lot, but most of them are still very beautiful!
Perhaps also due to more rain, the cherries are generally softer this year, but they feel more juicy and not as sweet, which is exactly what I like. Btw, they will also have apricots, peaches and plums and other fruits to pick, if you are interested, you can follow their official website to check the picking time.
🍓Brook Farms
📍122 Ashworth Rd, Mount Albert, ON L0G 1M0**
**Varieties: Strawberries, peas, berries, (pumpkin September), etc
Time: 9am-5am
Every year as long as the strawberry season, we know that summer is officially here. This year it was Brook's Farm in Uxbridge.
Since this weekend is the first week of mining, we arrived on time at 930 AM. Park your car at the gate and buy blueberries at the gate (the price depends on the size). We bought two 2 Litre baskets, one for $11.99. Buy it and walk to the strawberry field! The more you go inside, the bigger and redder the strawberry!
Maybe because the harvest season has just begun, there are many nearby are not mature, but the existing inside is already enough to harvest, we installed two large baskets, the children are not enough to pick. After the end of the play land on the opposite side to continue to walk the baby, I sincerely recommend that everyone arrive early, so that less parking facilities do not have to wait.
🍒Downey’s Apple Farm
📍13707 Heart Lake Rd, Inglewood, ON L7C 2K7
Varieties: Strawberry, Raspberry, apple, corn, pumpkin, etc
Time: 7am-4pm
In addition to the apple farm there are corn and pumpkins, pumpkins can also be picked but too big and heavy, you can just buy one from the door and carry it to the car. In addition to picking there are many amusement facilities, throwing pot, yoga ball, shooting, and there are not many people, so it is very cool to play haha.
The warehouse at the door also sells honey, chocolate apples, apples, pumpkins, apple juice, apple juice is fifteen kinds of apple brewed, super delicious! Highly recommend! Go before you run out of apples in a few weeks!
🍒Andrews Farm Market and Winery
📍9365 10 Side Road, Milton, ON L9T 2X9
Varieties: Strawberry, blueberry, Raspberry, Blackberry, corn, apple pumpkin
Time: Monday to Friday 10am-5pm Weekends 10am-6pm
It's strawberry picking season again, happy, this is really a good place for walking children/friends to go out/date! I picked strawberries several times over the years and went to different farms. This is the most interesting! The farm is big enough to take the bushi tractor (bushi) to pick strawberries in the strawberry field, the seat is the crenel, we are the animal fun experience +1! Have not sat before, you can also walk to, relatively far, do not sit on the front of the car! Will eat ash!
The farm is huge, with lambs, alpacas, chickens, ducks and geese, and you can feed them. See the children feed the lamb strawberries, the lamb eats a child giggles, too cute, feel the little baby picked strawberries to feed all. Next to it there are crenels and various places for children to play and adults to rest. And peony area $2 one! That is beautiful, lush and wide and free! The vastness of the sky and the vitality of nature feel so wanton! There is a small winery, tasted strawberries, friends bought cider.
To ticket 15 knives a person, strawberries to pay another, or quite worth it, because the farm is very easy to visit, a lot of take the baby to walk the baby, and with the dog. If you love to take pictures, it is also very easy to take pictures, and do a good job of sunscreen and insect protection. When picking strawberries, I heard the father next door with the baby let the children pick "big plant", "big bush" there are big strawberries under the big leaves, I also went to find, really learned.
