0 distance contact seals ➕ sea lions!

San Diego La Jolla Beach is a local treasure given by nature, the blue sea water on the rocks to beat out a variety of waves, seagulls gather here to fly, the beach and rocks there are groups of seals and sea lions in the sun, play, leisurely.

Today I met a pack of super cute seals on a beach in San Diego! Isn't that a surprise? I had only seen them in zoos before, but I didn't expect to be so excited to see them in the wild!

The seal and the sea lion look almost the same, it is difficult to distinguish from the body, only from the ears and sound to distinguish, the seal's ears are hollow, relatively quiet and rarely make a sound; Sea lions have ears with flaps and like to bark and growl.

📍 Where: La Jolla Cove

📅 Date: February 2024

As soon as I set foot on this beach embraced by the sun, I was deeply attracted by the scene in front of me. The seals are like bosses here, lounging on the warm sand, some even snoozing, and don't mind our "uninvited guests."

I approached quietly for fear of disturbing them. Their wet eyes occasionally swept over me, as if to say, "Hey, coming?" I pulled out my phone and carefully recorded these precious moments.

The seals are very protected here, so remember to keep your distance and don't try to touch them. To protect nature is to protect our common home.

La Jolla Bay is only about 10 minutes' drive from UCSD, not only has lovely wildlife, but also endless coastline and beautiful sunsets, here to share a few must-see punch points.

📍 Seal Viewing Point (Location: 1162 Coast Blvd)

La Jolla Bay, the most popular place, a row of tall palm trees on the roadside is super beautiful, but the parking space is tight, it is recommended to park in advance. There are not only lovely seals 🦭 sea lions, but also groups of gray Pelican Brown Pelican, Osprey osprey, hagdon. Tips: Don't get close to seals and sea lions! If they pick up human scent, they will be abandoned by the group, and scavenging alone can be easily eaten by predators .

📍Sunny Jim Cave

In addition to seals and sea lions, La Jolla Beach is famous for its coastal caves. Seven caves have been formed by the sea washing away the rocks 🪨 over the years. Sunny Jim Cave is the second largest cave, which can be entered and visited. What is interesting is that the long entrance to the Cave 🫣 is hidden in a small souvenir shop called the Cave Store. Walk along the stone steps for five minutes and you will see the Cave suddenly.

📍 Sea Bridge La Jolla Shores Beach (Location: 8650 Kennel Way)

Super film out of the place!! Graduated seniors and seniors will come here to take graduation photos! The bridge extends to the sea like a long corridor to the sunset, and anyone who does not come here will break my heart! The scenery is too beautiful to finish!

Share these photos with you and hope they bring a little bit of freshness and joy to your day! If you come to San Diego, don't miss this beach!
