🏠 Julian Pioneer Museum

California's historic landmark, in an 1800's blacksmith shop! There are a lot of historical artifacts and art, Native American artifacts, mining artifacts, Victorian pianos, historical photos... It's a great way to learn about California's mining and town history.

🌋 Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve

The reserve is located on the slopes of Volcan Mountain, 2miles from the town of Julian. Suitable for hiking! Walk five miles through the volcanic caldera to reach the summit and see the magnificent coastline and desert. The 2,900 acres of conifers, oaks and bear trees give it the feel of a big forest. The 5.4-mile round trip hiking trail up the mountains also offers desert and mountain and sea views of San Diego on a clear day.

This time we visited the CA Wolf Center, a non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to Wolf conservation, research and education. Established in 1977 to protect the endangered Northwestern Wolf and Mexican gray Wolf. Alarmingly, the Mexican gray Wolf was once on the brink of extinction, with numbers down to just 12. However, through conservation and breeding programs, the Mexican gray Wolf population has rebounded to about 200 individuals.

Our Tour guide is an animal research scientist. Although the tour content is not much, her vivid explanation made us feel that we learned a lot in one hour, and it was not boring at all. We also saw the Northwestern Wolf and the Mexican gray Wolf up close, which is the most in-depth experience I have had with wolves since I was a child.

This tour is $45 per person and every ticket goes to help protect our nature. I still recommend this tour, the Wolf field is about 10 minutes away from Julian city center, you need to buy tickets in advance.

The shop is on the road to the small town of julian, and google map can locate it. They only sell local honey from San Diego county, and there are many varieties! There's a sign in the store that says which part of SD they're from.
The focus is still raw honey, and the flavors range from light to rich, depending on the type of flower. There are also several types of infusion honey。The price is rarely fair! Normal a small bottle as long as 8 to 9 knives, the larger the bottle the more cost-effective, hanging all farmers market。

I highly recommend beekeeper and coastal wildflower, both of which are full-bodied and 1008 times more flavorful than supermarket versions. For something bland, try raw citrus and grapefruit first.
