【 About Art Museum 】
The National Gallery Singapore is one of Singapore's most iconic art institutions, bringing together the richest collection of modern and contemporary art in Southeast Asia. A collection of works of art from Singapore and Southeast Asia, focusing on Singapore and Southeast Asian art from the 19th century to the present day, presenting the social, economic and political history of Singapore and regional culture.

After listening to three Chinese guided Tours in one go, I found that the national gallery was not only a simple art museum, but also a municipal hall, a Supreme Court, a detention center for suspects and an office for justices.

The building is also a symbol of Singapore's colonial history and independent development, witnessing many great events in Singapore's history. The Japanese army signed the instrument of surrender here in 1945, and founding father Lee Kuan Yew took the oath here in 1959, declaring Singapore's self-government.

The museum also exhibits paintings and performance art works by different artists in Southeast Asia. From Southeast Asia under western colonial rule in the early 19th century to the experience of independent founding of countries after the war, it not only interprets the artistic changes of Southeast Asia, but also reflects the common problems of identity, racial integration, religious conflicts, war and peace in the development of Southeast Asian countries.
