Shizuoka travel | Weekend outing, into Maruko-chan's hometown

When it comes to Shizuoka, many people think of Mount Fuji first. Indeed, Mount Fuji is a must-see part of Shizuoka's tour, but Shizuoka's charm goes far beyond that. Last weekend, under the leadership of the company's beautiful colleague, Shizuoka native Kayo Koji, the colleagues who have had a lot of fun in Japan began a 2-day 2-night trip to Shizuoka!

Delicious strawberry desserts, matcha ice cream, fresh seafood in Shimizu Port, historic architecture and fascinating natural scenery in Kuneng Shandong, and of course, Chibi Maruko-chan theme Park, which has accompanied countless post-80s and 90s generations to grow up together... The whole trip was very fulfilling, especially eating a lot of food that only locals know about, and thanks again to Kayo Sauce, we experienced a weekend in Shizuoka local.

New to Shizuoka

As soon as they got off work on Friday, the three rushed to Tokyo Station and took the 20:03 Shinkansen to Shizuoka.

The time to arrive at Shizuoka Station is 21:03, which is only a short hour's drive away.

The drive was short, but running to catch the Shinkansen after work consumed a lot of our energy. As soon as they arrived in Shizuoka, they began to protest, and they unanimously decided to find a small restaurant near the station and eat before setting out for tonight's accommodation.

Finally entered a Japanese izakaya located near the south exit of JR Shizuoka Station - "Kaifang Master", after reading "Lonely Gourmet", has long been on the bowl of Shizuoka Kurokanto boiled long grass that makes Goro drool, this finally has the opportunity to eat!

First day of Shizuoka tour

First stop: Nakashima Garden Coffee

In Shizuoka, strawberries are abundant in winter, and Nakajima Garden is such a strawberry garden cafe, which is opened next to the strawberry greenhouse and is very well-known in Shizuoka. On the first morning, we came here to try the strawberry dessert that was picked and eaten here.

Address: 11-21 Hatomocho, Kui-ku, Shizuoka City

Left: Signature strawberry sundae/Right: Frozen strawberry fruit with vanilla ice cream

After dessert, we were still not satisfied, so we moved on to ーー

Second stop: Clear Water Fish Market

Known as a canteen for the locals of Shimizu Port, Shimizu Fish Market is the first seafood market in Japan for ordinary guests. The seafood sold in cash is not only fresh and delicious, but also the price is very conscientious! The deluxe paella we chose this time, a bowl full of fresh sashimi with rice and side dishes, is only about 2,000 yen (about 120 yuan)! This price is almost impossible to eat in Tokyo.

Address: 149 Shimazaki, Shizuoka Shimizu-ku

After a morning of food tour, in the afternoon we will head to the Shimizu landmark ーー

Third stop: Shimizu Dream Square

Qingshui Dream Plaza is a comprehensive shopping and entertainment venue near Qingshui Port. Sushi restaurants, grocery stores, grocery stores, and a wide variety of Shizuoka specialty gadgets are all available, making it a great place to shop for gifts for family and friends. But that's beside the point, because the main attraction here is the Chibi Maruko-chan theme Park on the third floor.

Maruko-chan is not only a national idol of the Japanese people, but also an anime character that accompanies many people in their childhood. The background of Maruko's story is Shimizu in the Showa era, so the theme pavilion showing the scenes of Maruko's life is also set here. Maruko's home, school, park and so on, many familiar scenes can be found here. Not only can you take beautiful photos, but you can also improvise with friends when there are few people (see Figure 3 small theater).

Address: 13-15 Ifunicho, Shizuoka Shimizu-ku

After visiting Maruko-chan theme Park, we found that it was still early, so we decided to walk around the Dream Square and search for Shizuoka characteristics.

When I went to the fresh supermarket, I found that there are so many novel flavors of cola and carbonated water, if matcha and cantaloupe are not surprising, then curry bun, eel and Ming Prince's Coke do you dare to try it?

If the luggage were not too heavy, I would like to pack them all and take them home!

Shizuoka tour day two

After the first day of eating, drinking and fun, the second day we decided to have a close encounter with nature.

First stop: Kintoki Steakhouse

Before starting the day, we must satisfy our stomachs, so we head to Kintoki (Kim とき) ーー, a well-known local steakhouse. 200g of steak is very exciting to eat, eat and go!

Address: 86-4 Seikisa, Suruga Ward, Shizuoka City

The second stop: Japan flat air cable car - Kuno Shandong Teriomiya

From Hei, Japan, you can take a cable car to Kumono Shandong Terugu, a cable car line with a total length of 1,065 meters.

According to Kayo, this is one of the few cable car lines in Japan that goes from low to high. Taking the cable car, you can see the endless Suruga Bay scenery along the way, it is refreshing.

Five minutes after the cable car ride, we came to Shizuoka's famous tourist spot ーー Kuno Shandong Teruomiya.

Although the entrance to Mount Kunoh has been seen, it is still some distance from the Higasu Palace. After climbing more than a hundred stairs, we finally reached the main hall of the Dongzhao Palace. Tokusu Palace is a national important cultural property of Japan, dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Edo shogunate. It is also the prototype of the Japanese Toyosu Palace, such as Nikko Toyosu Palace, which was built on the prototype of the Toyosu Palace. Although Xiaobian is not well versed in Japanese history, the exquisite architecture of the Higashi Palace is still worth spending half a day slowly enjoying.

After visiting the Higasugu Palace and buying a round-trip cable car ticket, we started to take the cable car back to Hira, Japan, and punched in the NIHONDAIRA YUME TERRACE. On a good day, you can see Mount Fuji and overlook Shimizu Port from the Heimu Balcony, but because it was cloudy that afternoon, we couldn't see the distant scenery, so we chose to take photos in front of the iconic building instead of going inside.

Address: Kusanagi 600-1, Shizuoka Shimizu-ku

Third stop: Shizuoka Matcha shop Seven Ya

After our visit to ー Kuno Mountain, our next stop is ーー Ichiya (ななや), a matcha specialty shop in Shizuoka. Seven houses is a shop specializing in the sale of matcha and matcha desserts, and the most famous here is the seven kinds of matcha ice cream with different concentrations. Ordinary shops can only choose chocolate flavor, vanilla matcha flavor, but as a matcha store, seven houses control the concentration of matcha through the use of tea, and make seven different tastes! We tasted a total of 3 different concentrations of matcha ice cream, the taste is really quite different!

Address: 2-3-1 Yotai-cho, Kui-ku, Shizuoka City

Fourth stop: Dumpling Research Institute

After eating dessert, it was getting late, and we came to the station near the station and decided to eat a dumpling institute and then "go back to Beijing"!

"Dumpling Institute." That's a funny name. I heard my colleagues recommend this place before, and today I finally have the opportunity to try it in person. After opening the menu, Xiaobian once again began to doubt his eyes

Ice cream dumplings, cheese honey dumplings, male dumplings, female dumplings (male dumpling meat with garlic juice, female dumpling meat without garlic juice), chicken wing dumplings, mapo dumplings, etc., a dumpling was actually made so many flavors, have to admire the imagination of the Japanese!

Address: 7-8 Konya Town, Shizuoka City

Although ice cream dumplings and cheese and honey dumplings sound a bit like dark dishes, they are still delicious after eating them! We ordered a total of 6 or 7 different flavors of dumplings, three people eat a book to meet the per capita of less than 2000 yen, can be said to be very cost-effective!

Goodbye, Shizuoka

After eating the dumpling Institute we embarked on the return Shinkansen and arrived at Tokyo station an hour later.

The time flies and the happy weekend is over. Looking back on this trip, we stopped and went, ate and played, and the whole trip was full and relaxed. Although I did not see Mount Fuji because of the cloudy days and did not eat more local food because of the limited time, the trip itself was full of regrets and expectations.

See you next time, Shizuoka!
