Today, the penultimate stop on our Michigan Loop tour is in the German town of Frankenmuth, north of Ann Arbor.
Frankenmuth is a distinctly German town whose history dates back to the early days of German settlers in Michigan. The architecture and the food here are very good to keep the more traditional German characteristics.
There's a different event in town every week. Check out frankenmuth.org to find out ahead of time. We were at Oktoberfest this week. At $35 a person, you get a small shot and six or seven tickets that you can use to exchange drinks at different Venders inside. We once had a really good peach flavor beer and forgot to write down the name.
The shed of this beer festival is next to a lake, the sun is particularly good on the weekend, it is very out on the grass, it is also very suitable for friends to picnic together, and the lake on the side is also very many people to kayaking. If you have time, you can also clock in downtown and visit some artisanal shops.
It is also said to be the largest seller of Christmas items in the United States, and there are various events held regularly every year, which can be very crowded at that time. We arranged a quiet time to hang out.
Zehnder's of Frankenmuth, a particularly famous restaurant in the town, is famous for doing family style chicken at the earliest. Of course, located in a small town in Germany, their beer is also very good. I think their home is better than fried chicken is German sausage with sauerkraut, I suggest you to try it.
The decoration of their home is very distinctive, the service attitude is also very good, it is worth going again. I just heard the lines get really long sometimes. After dinner, there is a big supermarket on the first floor of their home, selling a lot of good-looking but sweet cupcakes haha, you can go shopping.
Jaami's Ice Cream and Treats, you must try it here. There are so many different flavors. Almost everyone has one hahaha.
In the evening we drank at Prost Wine Bar & Charcuterie on the street. Their home is also a great place for wine and food that I highly recommend. The environment is quiet, the lighting is dark, and the atmosphere is full. What is more recommended are their various flights, which can be selected according to their favorite regions and paired with some wine-tasting treats, which are very comfortable and suitable for dating.
Finally, I went to Frankenmuth Brewery at noon on the second day after seeing someone recommend it. However, the greater the goose expectations the greater the disappointment, we feel very general, their beer has not been Zinhder's good drink, things are not delicious, and the whole restaurant is filled with a strange taste of brewing, do not know if it is because of the off-season, in short, the family is careful.
We live right on Main Street in Fairfield, and there are a lot of hotels to choose from and it's easy to get anywhere. Frankenmuth is small enough to accommodate a day. We plan to go again when it's closer to Christmas, and we'll have a different feeling.
