Seville April Festival, dance in the spring!

Feria de Abril, also known as the Seville Spring Festival, is an annual Spring Festival held in the city of Seville (Andalusia, Spain), where people gather in a large venue called the Real de la Feria, with temporary stalls on the streets decorated with lanterns, Cavalry and wagons shuttled through it.

During the festival, people wear typical Andalusian dress: men in traditional village dress, women in flamenco or gypsy dress, and gather to sing and dance or drink and chat.

2024 April Festival Time:

It begins at midnight on Sunday 14 April and ends with a fireworks display at 12:00 on 20 April.

The origin of the April Festival
During the festival season, the capital of Andalusia, Spain, exudes a strong artistic atmosphere. Coupled with the Andalusians' enthusiasm for festivals, Seville's April Festival is full of lights, music and dancing.

🐎 Carriage Parade -- Paseo de Caballos

Taking a horse-drawn carriage ride on April Day is also an old local tradition. Every afternoon, more and more horse-drawn carriages will appear in the streets, and finally there will be a long line of horse-drawn carriages, which is called the "carriage parade".

Riders will ride tall horses to join the procession of carriages. They wore round-brimmed felt hats, short, tight coats and breeches, and polished riding boots in the signature traditional Spanish biker dress.

🎠 The Parque de atracciones

Located in Calle del Infierno, this is a very lively leisure area for children to play in, with plenty of attractions for children and adults as well as stalls for drinks or snacks.

🎆 Fuegos artificiales, the fireworks that mark the end of the festival

After a week of carnival, the fireworks flashed across the sky at midnight on Sunday, marking a perfect end to the festival, which will only be seen again next year.

Every year, the festival transforms Seville into a city of color, music and dance, attracting locals and tourists alike. The traditional dinner "Night of the Lights" on Saturday 13 April officially kicked off, with the show's cover lit up at midnight.

Wednesday, April 17, is the climax of the week. On this day, Sevilla ladies would wear flamenco dresses or gypsies with a flower on their heads, and knights would parade on horseback dressed in elaborate costumes. They will enjoy music, food, wine sangria in the market, and enjoy dancing in the Seville spring.

The whole city is dressed up for a trip, the streets are full of skirts and wagons from time to time passing by, as if they were in a scene of medieval retro theater.

The girls wore Sevillan-style spring dresses, tassel shawls glistening in the sun, and huge flower headdress on their heads, like a sea of flowers in the crowd.

Men arrive in formal clothes or traditional Andalusian dress, wearing wide-brimmed hats and accompanied by the sound of rattling carriages, carrying laughter.

After all, horses and carriages are the old and fast ways to get around during the lively April Festival.
