Cappuccini catacombs or the Church of the Mummies
Sunday - Saturday: 11:00 am - 1:00 PM;
Location: Piazza Cappuccini, 1, 90129 Palermo PA, Italy
Duration: 1 hour (any longer and it gets a little creepy)
Attention!! This scenic spot is relatively far from Palermo attractions, and it is not recommended that girls go alone, because I am walking past, and some of the places I pass are still relatively dirty
At present, there are 8,000 mummified bodies or skeletons, all lifelike. They had been lawyers, teachers, judges, bankers, and clergy. They're all wearing the clothes they were when they were alive.
At first, the tomb was only used for the display of deceased Catholic monks, but soon, the local rich and nobles of Italy became interested in it, and they planned to display their bodies here after death. For them, it's a status symbol.
Unlike the human bones in Paris and the Czech Republic, this face is mostly mummified, with hair and clothing preserved, and one of the mummies, known as "Sleeping Beauty," is the well-preserved body of a two-year-old girl, whose body is almost intact, from her dark hair to her fine eyelashes, as if she were asleep.
Tourist souvenir guide | Sicily
As a souvenir lover, Mr. Krabs decided to share some truly local souvenir shopping guides after his field trip. Sicily as the first post in the series, interested partners can pay attention to it.
Popular tourist destinations in Sicily include Palermo, Taormina and Catania. My trip also took me to Marsala and Mount Etna. Figure 1 shows an overview of souvenirs from the trip.
Marsala
Sicily's westernmost city, featuring the Salt Lake Stagnone more than ten kilometers to the north. The shop at the entrance of the Salt Lake is called La Bottega del Sale, address Contrada Ettore Infersa, snc, 91025 Marsala TP, under the red windmill in Picture 2, there are various packages of local kosher salt and porcelain dishes. Mr. Krabs, of course, has to buy crab plates (Figure 3,24 euros), and flower patterns should also be more than 10 euros. The small bag of simple kosher salt in Figure 4 costs only 1 euro.
Souvenir shops all over town. When visiting Palazzo dei Normanni, you can see souvenir shops at the entrance and exit ticket counter. I chose the palm-sized ceramic pine cone in Picture 5, which costs €20 a piece. It represents vitality in Italian culture and is suitable as a gift for newlyweds, new homes and other scenes. Places like Taormina or Catania also have similar pine cones, which are more varied in size.
Taormina
Close to Caltagirone in Sicily, Taormina is unrivalled in the richness of its ceramics. It's Il Girasole Ceramic shop, Via del Teatro Greco 6, 98039 Taormina ME. I bought a set of 45 euros cactus tray + cactus fruit cup, compared with other regular shape of the painted porcelain, the whole store is the only one, the store wrapped very close, but can not show you. There are many things with lemon elements, such as soap, porcelain door plate and porcelain refrigerator sticker in Figure 7. I bought the two sets of soaps shown in Figure 8 for about €10 together. The center of the city can also find the special square ceramic refrigerator sticker, the Greek Theater above the souvenir shop has a glass refrigerator sticker in picture 9, the owner said that there is no other place in the city, can not miss.
Catania/Etna Volcano
Gran Bazar Artigianato Siciliano Souvenirs (Via Dusmet 13-15, 95121 Catania), a gift shop near Piazza Duomo, sells the aforementioned pine cones and some ceramic cups. If you go to Etna, you can buy various products of volcanic elements (Figure 10). I paid 13 euros, the price varies greatly depending on the location of the store, and the fridge magnets at the entrance are cheaper.
