The ultimate imagination of German Romanticism - Heidelberg

Heidelberg Castle

Heidelberg Castle is located in the south of Germany, is today Germany's famous castle ruins and Heidelberg landmark building, the castle ruins are the most famous Renaissance architecture north of the Alps. After being damaged in the 17th and 18th centuries, the castle has been partially rebuilt. The castle is located on the Northern Slope of the 80-meter-high Throne Mountain, which overlooks the old town. The first castle building was built before 1240, and in 1294 it was expanded into two castles.

Heidelberg Castle (Heidelberg Castle) is located on the top of the King's throne, there are many historic sites, and it has been expanded several times in history to form a mixture of Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance three styles, a representative of the German Renaissance.

The main entrance of the castle is carved with knights in armor, the central garden has a fountain and four granite columns, and is surrounded by buildings such as a concert hall and a glass hall. Standing on the edge of the city, the eyes are full of endless vineyards, beautiful.

The Heidelberg Old Bridge (Alte Brucke) is an old bridge with nine arches, the first stone bridge in Heidelberg to cross the Neckar River (Neckar r), built between 1786 and 1788 by Elector Karl Theodor.

At present, the ancient bridge is reserved for pedestrians on foot. At the southern end of the bridge is the bridge gate, the two 28-meter-high round towers from the 15th century are the oldest parts of the old bridge, and the gate was originally used to collect "bridge tolls". There is a bronze monkey sculpture at the end of the bridge, which was created by the German modern artist Rumpf.

Tickets: To enter the castle need tickets, buy a cable car ticket after all tickets are through, I bought a ticket to the summit, a total of three small cable car 9+4.5, respectively stop the castle, the castle hotel and the top of the mountain. The recommended stay time of 1.5 hours is sufficient.

The castle can also climb on its own, ten minutes to walk up, but not to the top of the mountain, the peak of the section is very steep, changed a cable car. The cable car ticket goes into the castle, which has an observation deck overlooking the Old town and the Old Bridge, and a wine cellar under the castle, where you can climb up wooden steps to huge wine barrels! There are telescopes at the top of the mountain to see the view.

Philosopher's Walk

Located halfway up the south slope of the Heiligenberg on the north bank of the Necka River in Heidelberg, it is a walking trail about 2 km long. It is said that many poets and philosophers in history have often walked and thought here, such as the philosopher Hegel, the poet Goethe, Holderlin, etc., so it is called the philosopher's path.

Philosophy was once the foundation of classical education in Europe, a compulsory subject for all students, and students also talked about philosophical issues on this hillside path. What a good time to think while walking. Aristotle's school was called "peripatetic" because of his love of walking and discussing problems, and Kant went out for a walk at a fixed time every day, more accurate than a church clock.

Walking in the golden autumn of Heidelberg, as beautiful as a fairy tale. What is even more intriguing is that the end of the philosopher's trail is not the School of Philosophy, but the Institute of Astrophysics. Perhaps it also neatly illustrates the relationship between philosophy and astrophysics in the long journey of human civilization.

In the doorway of a garden by the Philosopher's Walk stood a model of a palm stretched out flat, with the simple words "HEUTE PHILOSOPHIERT?" written inside the palm. Have you philosophized today? Today, the footpath is still a good place to overlook the old town of Heidelberg from across the bank.

Heidelberg summer is more comfortable, it is recommended to wear short T-shirt sleeves, shorts, skirts, etc., but because of rainy weather or the temperature difference between morning and evening is relatively large, but also need to prepare long-sleeved coats and pants. In winter, there is snow and the temperature is low, you need to wear cotton jackets, down jackets, etc.

Heidelberg is really small, but she is like a living landscape painting. Overlooking from high places and weaving through alleys, her beauty, so pure and natural, let people fall in love with this city immediately.
