A day trip to Magdeburg on the spur of the moment with my sisters, this city is a holy place for spiritual cultivation!
Magdeburg is not only famous for its historic buildings and cultural heritage, it also holds a place in the history of science, not least because of the famous "Magdeburg Hemisphere" experiment. The experiment was carried out in the 17th century by physicist Otto von Guericke, who used two copper hemispheres to demonstrate the existence and force of air pressure. By combining the two hemispheres together and pumping out the air from them, he showed that even with several horses, they could not be separated, an experiment that caused a sensation at the time, effectively demonstrating the powerful effect of air pressure.
Let's walk into the city together!
✅Dommuseum Ottonianum Magdeburg
After getting off, first go to the Museum of History and Natural History, walk 15min from the station, the museum is really not big, student tickets are 5 euros, the staff attitude is very good, there is just a special exhibition of Otto the Great, mainly talking about some of the life and deeds of Otto the Great, the exhibits are not much, It must be mentioned here that the Museum of Cultural History mentioned earlier also has Otto the Great exhibition, but it has a special section on the starke Frauen in the life of the king, including his wife, Queen Eadgyth, the story and the thinking of the organizers are much deeper than the church museum.
The objects, paintings and statues on display in the history museum are very beautiful, including some explanations about the history of Marburg (only a few of them are bilingual in English and German, mainly a casual look, if you can't do it, you can see from some of the paintings that Marburg has been a church of ten steps and one church from a very early time.
The Naturalistic Museum, like the one in Berlin, has regular giant dinosaur skeletons, as well as this picture of various bones embedded in animal-shaped plates for a more intuitive understanding. There is also a second story built here, bird specimens are placed on the tree trunk, and specially played the sound of birds chirping, very interactive. Although I don't like the concept of taxidermy, I have to say they do a good job.✅Kulturhistorisches Museum Magdeburg
The art is not impressive. 90% of the four stars are dedicated to the history of the city, and to Marburg, the determined freedom fighter who made his fortune as a freight hub on the banks of the Elbe River, and who fought for centuries to become a "municipality" free of the archbishopic rule. In the 13th century, he assassinated the archbishop due to heavy taxes and set up his own local council. During the Religious Revolution, he refused Ausburg Interim (forcing the people of Marburg to believe in Catholicism) to resist the royal army, and the war was fierce but he finally got rid of the rule of the Catholic Archbishop. After this war, the once prosperous Magdeburg was almost razed to the ground
Today's Magdeburg has long seen no traces of the struggle and the magnificent, quiet and peaceful years, but perhaps this is her best destination.
✅Dom zu Magdeburg
The same Gothic church, certainly can not be compared with the Cologne Cathedral, but it is also the oldest Gothic church in Germany, although the art is much lower than the Cologne Cathedral, but the historical significance is placed there, if you come to have a look.
✅China Palast
📍Mittagstr. 32, 39124 Magdeburg, Deutschland
Local friends recommended to go, boiled fish and pot wrapped meat delicious!
✅ Grune Zitadelle
📍Breiter Weg 8, 39104 Magdeburg, Deutschland
A niche site in Magdeburg, it was the last building designed by the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. It's really rebellious to call something green when it's pink. The whole building feels crooked, with a lot of circular arch lines and Mosaic elements. It's very eclectic. The exterior wall is mainly pink with dopamine-colored decoration, which is very dreamy and lovely. The name of the building means "Green Castle", I think because the top floor of the building is covered with green plants. But because of the rainy reasons did not go to the top floor, some regret!
This pink building is actually a large shopping mall, which is very beautiful! The souvenirs are ridiculously expensive. They're kind of Bassett.
✅Jahrtausendturm
It is the tallest wooden tower building in Germany, a wooden structure with a spiral spine, in the Elbauenpark. Climbing the tower can overlook the scenery of Magdeburg city, in fact, it is a science museum, because it pays more attention to the sense of experience, and the overall space is limited, so it is more like a children's science museum, which briefly shows the history of human civilization for thousands of years, if you remember correctly, there is no part of Chinese civilization.
For restaurants, I highly recommend the main course of Sawadee Thai Restaurant. The Thai milk tea is not authentic, it is not sweet enough and has no taste of tea. The Tom Yam Gong soup hmmmm is not the least bit different from the one I had when I was a volunteer teacher in Thailand, but the main dish tastes good. Green Curry fried chicken rice and Pad Thai are recommended; Chigogi Korean food trod thunder, familiar with my uu know that I rarely say what things tread thunder, but the fried chicken is frozen and re-roasted (good frozen taste, if it is made now can only say that the level is problematic), Bulgogi is too salty, the roasted pork belly with kimchi is really difficult to say, the two main dishes are very small, I personally really do not recommend.
The history of Marburg is something I would like to buy a book to read, standing quietly on the Elbe river away from the war, like a traveler who has returned from a thousand sails in history and deserves a rest.
