Chile building
The Chile Building, a 10-storey office building in Hamburg that was completed in 1924 and was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, is a stunning construction of 4.8 million bricks, an embodiment of the brick expressionism of the 1920s.
It is currently one of the most impressive buildings in Hamburg. The first thing that comes into view is the pointed eastern end, reminiscent of the bow. Since the building's completion in 1924, it has been a center for international maritime trade. Today, the impressive landmark also houses a real estate company, a department store and a piano retailer.
The Chile Building is an iconic building in the shipping district and one of the most representative examples of modernist architecture in Hamburg. The tallest building was once an office block for merchants, built by hand from 4.8 million bricks with sharp corners designed to mimic the bow of a ship. In 2015, the shipping district and Warehouse city where the building is located were inscribed on the World Heritage List.

The new concert hall is built on top of an old port warehouse that used to store tea, tobacco and cocoa beans.
The glass curtain wall is made of more than 1,000 specially created curved glasses, using hot bending technology and undergoing rigorous leakage testing and impact resistance testing.
The interior walls and ceiling are made of 10,000 gypsum fiberboards, each individually milled to form a complete surface structure, allowing sound to spread to any corner.
The roof is also an area for rest and city views, with 6,000 round bright panels installed on the roof to create a dazzling reflective surface of light.
This "glass crown" building has become an important landmark of Hamburg and the new heart of the music capital of northern Germany, bringing unprecedented vitality to the growing port of Haven; With the grand opening of the Elbbe Concert Hall in Hamburg on 11 January 2017, the North German Radio Elbbe Orchestra will find a new home in this unique concert hall on the banks of the Elbe River.
Damsel Dyke
