Chen Shiying, a contemporary Chinese jewelry artist known as the "terrible Chinese" in the European jewelry world, has been working on various gemstones and metals for his artistic practice for 50 years. In 1987, he invented the illusion carving method, which only cuts a small hole in the back of the gemstone for reverse internal engraving, and makes it show a multi-faceted dream effect by calculating the refraction Angle.

"One Thousand Thoughts" exhibits the works of Chen Shiying jewelry artist from half a century. The master spent almost all his life studying jewelry. He excelled in carving, setting and polishing techniques, and also created his own unique jewelry cutting technique, which he named WallaceCut engraving.

He is a craftsman, an inventor, and an unparalleled world-class creative artist. In addition to exhibiting the works of masters of half a century, this exhibition combines all kinds of jewelry collections from ancient and modern times at home and abroad, and can be called a refreshing aesthetic feast.

His works are full of dreamy elements, often incorporating myths, flowers, animals and other elements to form his unique artistic language.
The whole exhibition is about Master Chen Shiying's inheritance and understanding of life. Through the three themes of "sculpture and carrier", "Chaos and magic" and "wisdom and power", the master's concepts are presented to us one by one.

What I like most is the insight on cicada in the first theme "Carving and Carrier", which is a homophone with "Zen". Jade Zen was Master Chen Shiying's first problem when he was 16 years old as an apprentice, he said that he was too young to understand the Zen in cicadas. Later, I realized that China was founded on agriculture, and Zen was praised by people since ancient times, and was regarded as a symbol of harvest, purity and rebirth. Cicadas born in the earth, return to the earth, symbolizing the cycle of life, is a wish for the new birth, but also a blessing to go.

He used his invention of "Peicui cutting and polishing patent technology" in this "Wucicada Zhicui", the jade held by the cicada symbolizes the wind of the gentleman, and the cicada holds the pursuit of its realm.

Each of his works is exploring the vitality of nature, telling a story and an idea, which makes me linger and forget.
