The original Hamanfang was built by Huang Shaoshan, a cotton magnate in Hankou, and was completed after 1910. He followed the example of Shikumen residential area in Shanghai, and built the first set of model houses with an area of more than 200 square meters on the original site of Fuchang Tea Factory in Russia, which was favored once it was built.
Subsequently, more than 20 businessmen raised funds to build more than 20 two-story or three-story row buildings, which were completed in 1933, including Tongren Li, Qichang Li, and Deyong Li, and were named Xian 'an Fang together with the original Xian 'an Fang, meaning "wealth and Xian 'an".
Architectural feature
Shikumen style, but separate from Shikumen style building single mode. The distance view is connected into a typical cascading Shikumen style, and the near view between the buildings is a variety of independent units.
