I had planned to cancel the Kelowna trip because the mountain fire was a little serious, but at the end of August it seemed to get better, so I still went with my friends according to the original plan. This Kelowna/Penticton trip is for three days and two nights. We rented an evo prius in Vancouver for three days, and it was only $332 all-inclusive. (Really, it is highly recommended to rent an evo for long-distance driving, and it is really very cost-effective. If you drive a long distance, you don't have to love the kilometers of your car, and they will package the gas money, especially good!)
Day 1 Vancouver ➡️ West Kelowna
I left Vancouver at 6:30 in the morning and it took me about 4 hours to get there. I drove the trans Canada highway and highway 97.
📍Bamboo Chopsticks Restaurant
The first stop went to eat Vietnamese pho, first of all is very cheap, much cheaper than Vancouver, and then the taste is also very good, the soup is very thick, no step on thunder, service attitude is great! Very helpful Vietnamese food! There are many varieties of dishes, from snacks, barbecue, salad, soup powder, rice to stir-fry, hot pot, dessert, and the basic ones that have not eaten. And every dish is delicious!
📍Paynter’s Fruit Market
The second stop was to pick peaches. Some peaches are still pretty sweet, the entrance fee is 3, and then a pound more peaches seems to be a lot cheaper than Calgary, quite fun! The market also has a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits to sell, the overall very recommended! They are calculated by lb, $1.5/lb I think it is very cheap, you can also pick and eat, really is the sweet juice, before going to their home to pick, you can go to their website to see what can be picked, every month is different, we went there are pears to pick, but we let it go.
📍Mission Hill Family Estate Winery
Missionhill Winery lived up to its reputation after seeing many recommended notes before visiting! It makes sense that so many people recommend it. The view is so beautiful, it's nice to go in without drinking. The winery is on a hill next to the lake with a great view,The wine place also has a great collection of lv chanel wine!
We made a reservation for lunch at the winery for 70 people, which included bread to start with, an appetizer, a main course and three glasses of wine to go with the meal. The food was not sloppy at all and was delicious. Dessert is a little extra, but it's delicious. The focus is on the location of the restaurant, overlooking the entire vineyard and sweeping lake views, and the atmosphere is also good, like being in a European estate, cost-effective and worth the experience.
After entering the restaurant, you can ask for a sample of wine that you are interested in, and taste it for free. I tried a 2014 ice wine, which is very mellow and sweet, and took it home. First of all, they will give you a cup of Rose, and there will be 4 kinds of wine to try, and there will be a professional to teach you how to taste wine, a session is about 35 minutes, and finally they also served us a cup of ice wine, very sweet, really good to drink, but after a few sips, we got tired of drinking. At $35 per person, I think it's worth the price! The scenery outside their winery is also very beautiful, probably because of the relationship between the hill fire, so it is not very clear to see the opposite side, usually should be more beautiful.
📍Shannon Heights B&B
I spent the night in this air bnb, which was $177 a night at that time, for one room, but the other rooms were unoccated, so we occupied the whole common area. Because this air bnb is on the mountain, the scenery is very beautiful, you can enjoy the West Kelowna of different pov, they also include breakfast!
The next day West Kelowna ➡️ Kelowna
📍Kangaroo Creep Farm
The first stop on the second day was the zoo, which felt a bit expensive for an individual, $20/person, but there were many different animals to see and take photos of. Kangaroo at most, fat and cute, with parrots, rabbits, sheep, turtles, capybara and more. There will also be three animal shows every day, different animals will perform their special skills, I think it is very funny. They close early, too, at 3 o 'clock, so go early.
📍University of British Columbia, Okanagan
ubco is not far from the zoo, so I walked around by the way, to tell you the truth, much more beautiful and bigger than I imagined, at least than the University of Waterloo I read.
📍Parlour Ice Cream
Must-have ice cream at Kelowna !!!!! I tried the lavender London fog mint. All three are delicious, but the lavender is my favorite!
📍Kelowna Downtown
After that, take a stroll around downtown. It's not very big. There is a beach and you can see West Kelowna on the other side. Really can visit the place is not a lot, mainly to take photos, absorb vitamin D.
📍Yamas Greek Restaurant
In the evening, I went to a Greek restaurant, I ordered medium rare sheep, but maybe because it was too raw, it didn't bite much, but the taste was still very good, my friend ordered medium cattle just right.
📍Hotel Zed Kelowna
The next day I went to this motel in downtown. It was tiny, but it also had a mini pool and a hot tub. The next day it was more expensive than the first day, probably because of downtown, so it was normal.
