Stepping into The Bridge Tea Room, you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd walked straight through a time portal. The tea room is housed in a former blacksmith's cottage dating back to 1502, and the decor is as if it hasn't changed since Victorian times. The place actively permeates the atmosphere, with classical music playing gently in the background to create a serene tone.

The building has a long history. It was originally built as a single story cottage, with a second story added in 1675. It was a tailor's home and workshop, then a local blacksmith ran his business in the forge next door, and for a time, there was also a sweet shop and an antique shop. Converted into a tea room in 1989, Roy and Alison Hayward took over the business in 2006.

The ritual of serving tea in the afternoon has developed into an art here. Our online store is being developed to include a greater variety of loose-tea and we hope to offer some delicious cakes soon.

This is the most beautiful and inviting tea room I have ever seen anywhere! Lovely decor, really old and original. The waitress was wearing a beautiful period-style apron. We have delicious sandwiches, cakes and, of course, scones with jam and cream.

A great place to visit and enjoy lunch or afternoon tea. The food was great and the cake was lovely. They have all kinds of tea and coffee. The staff is friendly and if you like old buildings and a good atmosphere, this is the place for you.
