Is the "game platter" of kangaroos, emus and crocodiles really good?

Before coming to Australia, I had been curious about the taste of kangaroo meat. After eating the pie made of kangaroo meat in Attica, I felt that it was not enough, so I took the opportunity to find other places where I could eat kangaroo meat.

By chance, I visited the cafe of Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre, where it is said that you can eat kangaroo meat, emu meat and crocodile meat platters.

This cafe is conveniently located just outside of Geelong and on our way to the Great Ocean Road, which immediately added it to our itinerary. When we arrived here, it coincided with the afternoon, and the guests in the cafe were twos and threes, and soon after ordering, they ushered in the "game platter" that they had been thinking about for a long time.

Crocodile meat feels like chicken at first, but a little fishy, and feels less delicious than grilled (Thailand's roast crocodile meat is stronger). Kangaroo meat is added aniseed so you can't distinguish the original smell, but it's okay. Today, I learned that the meat breaded in this row of fried Wonton on the far right is Emu.

I looked up what Emu is and it's EMU, which is the national bird from Australia and one of the most primitive bird species. It looks a bit like an African ostrich, and can't fly. It turns out that this national bird can also eat ah, the taste is very good, can not describe, because made into a ball is also added material is not sure whether the whole piece is all this bird meat... I feel a bit like a meat bun.

The "game platter" is super large and definitely worth the price. The planks are lined with shredded kangaroo meat, emu sausage and diced crocodile meat, as well as fried tortillas and a trio of sauces.

After low temperature and slow cooking kangaroo meat taste and color are very similar to beef, but the seasoning is slightly strange, can eat a relatively heavy vanilla taste, this taste will make people feel a little bitter.

Emu sausage tastes very loose, neither the powder of eating a little sausage, nor the tightness of eating pure meat sausage, much like eating a mouthful of meat puree feeling.

The taste of diced crocodile meat is very similar to chicken breast, the taste is very dry, the seasoning is very light, the addition of crushed herbs is also somewhat inexplicable

And next to the tortilla can also be used to describe the disaster, the flour tortilla after frying, greasy feeling can be imagined, in addition to the outside of the crispy shell can bite two, inside is really hard to imagine.

Instead of satisfying us with the mixture of meat and sugar and oil, this "game platter" puts on a mask of pain, even when dipped in barbecue sauce, salad dressing and sauce.

The lamb roll we ordered was not very good, but compared with the "game platter" it was still edible. The most surprising thing is that the sweet potato sticks were the most delicious one we ordered.

But how to say it, delicious or bad taste worth mentioning, completely disenchantment of these "game". If kangaroos, crocodiles and emus really tasted good, they might have been served on every household table by now

Overall, this dish is a good try for those who are interested in the national treasure meat for the first time in Australia, and the location of this restaurant is also very good, on the beach, you can see the large cruise boats that go out to snorkeling in the morning docked nearby.
