Ballarat, Westworld for real!

Ballarat, 112 kilometers west of Melbourne, is the third largest city in Victoria and the most famous gold mining city in Australia.

By the early 20th century, the gold here has been depleted, gold owners shut down the big and small mines, as long as 50 years of gold rush wave has become history. After restoration in the 1970s, it was officially opened to the public as a tourist attraction. There are currently 160 staff members working here wearing the costumes of that time, giving visitors a sense of trance.

Took the time to go to the long-heard Sovereign Hill gold mining town, for me like "Westworld" and "Game of Thrones" fantasy British and American fans here is very fun.

Immersive town experience, each staff member is like an NPC, as if doing a time and space shuttle, into the capitalist society of the 18th world.

If you like British and American dramas, you can go and play.

During the mid-19th century gold rush, thousands of prospectors flocked to places like Ballarat and Bendigo in Victoria in search of a chance to strike it rich overnight. The town quickly developed into a vibrant community.

Sovereign Hill in Ballarat is an open museum that simulates life in a gold rush town in the 1860s, where visitors can experience gold panning, horse-drawn carriage rides and everyday life at the time.

Drive from Melbourne City, about 1.5 hours, you can also take Vline, 1h, an interval of about 40 minutes.

Sovereign Hill

Gold panning experience: You can pan for gold in the river in person, complete with tools, but the gold is really very small, I don't know, no bigger than the glitter on my eye shadow. Sovereign Hill has actors dressed in period costumes who perform on the streets and recreate scenes of life at the time, including craft demonstrations such as blacksmiths, candy shops and horse-drawn carriages.

Mine Tour Underground Mine Tour: You can visit the mine and learn about 19th century mining techniques and working conditions. We chose the third line and restored a real Mining accident scene. The whole process lasted 45 minutes, and the scene was very high. We could not see our hands when we went down in a small mining cart. The audio and video were so moving that some of the tourists who visited together cried.

Lake Wendouree: It's a big park by the lake with fountains and lots of black swans in the lake. But the winter was so cold that I quickly took two pictures and left.

The restaurant of choice was New York Bakery Scone + Tea which was surprisingly good, good value for money and good service. I pre-ordered it on google, but there aren't too many people in the store, so I think you can walk in. Creamy potato dough, creamy. Lightly spicy, tomato-flavoured shrimp on dry toast. Lots of juice and lots of cheese.

Quest Ballarat Station

Near the station, the rooms are large and the facilities are relatively new. During the night, the card stopped working, locked out of the house, called someone to open the door.
