The world's first KFC is here! That's pretty cool
In a corner of Salt Lake City, a seemingly ordinary fast food restaurant is now part museum, part cafe. But it was here that the story of KFC began.
The Harland Sanders Cafe and Museum in Corbin housed the first KFC restaurant. Colonel Harlan Sanders, the founder of KFC, ran the restaurant from 1940 to 1956. It was here that Sanders developed the famous recipe that made the restaurant chain history. You can have lunch here and learn how Saunders created the delicious fried chicken recipe that is still used today.
The rest is history. Pitt immediately added the fried chicken to the menu and asked his friend Don Anderson to advertise it in the restaurant window. Don suggested calling it "Kentucky Fried Chicken."
The fried chicken quickly became so popular that when the Colonel returned to Utah, he found a long line outside Harman's Cafe. This success inspired Colonel Sanders to promote his fried chicken across the United States and around the world.
Today, every Utah KFC is run by the Harman family. Harman's Cafe still stands, with Harman's name on the front door and statues of Colonel Sanders and Pitt in the yard.
Every customer who visits hears the same greeting: "Welcome to the world's first KFC." This is not just a slogan, but the beginning of a legend.
