The Mermaid Parade was born in 1983 to commemorate the "Brooklyn Carnival" and was established every year on a Saturday in early summer, rain or shine. The parade has become one of New York's hottest summer events.

During the Mermaid Parade, people will dress up as mermaids, water monsters, sea gods, sailors and other images, and walk on Coney Island's Surf Avenue to show their creativity and enthusiasm. A variety of bands, juggling is another beautiful scenery in the parade.

Each person presents their own unique creativity and style. The parade's floats are richly decorated and loaded with energetic participants, music blares from speakers, and joyful rhythms run the length of the parade route. Immersed in the joyful atmosphere, colorful flags and bright decorations shine in the sun, creating a bright sea world.

Every year, more than 3,000 artists and art floats participate, and beautiful girls, large and small, dressed as various mermaids, "swim" in front of you! Lobster scallops, pirate ship treasure chests, and all kinds of imaginative costumes will make you feel that New Yorkers are so talented!
