gentoo siocsifflags error Wilson, Wyoming

This should solve the problem, you should longer have the ioctl(SIOCSIFFLAGS) failed: Name not unique on network message. What is the first movie to show this hard work message at the very end? I'm using the rt73-cvs-2008042605 driver (from the daily build). Linux changed my life~!

The original problem description and solution can be found in this forum thread. Enter “iwconfig”: lo no wireless extensions.

It likely looks similar the following output. So, I tried to execute the ifconfig command listen above but \ I

The source of the problem comes from the udev persistent net rules generator. Join our community today! Determining the Current Channel To determine the current channel, enter “iwlist channel”. Are there some directions somewhere you can point me to?

and, OH, BTW once running a rmmod - modprobe -v rt73 sequence the module crashed, leaving some relicts in kernel space, freezing my system. The second problem is that if you run airmon-ng on wifi0 the athXX created does not show as being shown as in Monitor mode, even though it is. Plugging in and out doesn't help. mon0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device This means you have an old version of airmon-ng installed. Also, Unknown error 132 is a typical error for that. eth0 no wireless extensions.

Thanks, dyle71 29-04-2008 03:14:00 Hi Vern, Thank you for trying. It is strongly recommended that these processes be eliminated prior to using the aircrack-ng suite. “check kill” will check and kill off processes that might interfere with the aircrack-ng suite. ath0 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"" Nickname:"" Mode:Managed Channel:0 Access Point: Not-Associated Bit Rate:0 kb/s Tx-Power:0 dBm Sensitivity=0/3 Retry:off RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Refer to the documentation above to kill network managers and put it back into monitor mode.

It depends on which driver you are using. It most likely mean the interface mode was changed from monitor to managed mode by a network manager. ifconfig shows active interfaces only. No flashing, no blinking, no nothing ...

and, oh yes, it's a Gentoo system. so far, downgrading the kernel is the only solution im finding, and the amount of time it took me to get a working gentoo was insane. If you wish to use the nextgen driver, make sure there are no scripts that load the legacy driver. The time now is 10:32 PM.

so, I used "iwlist wlan0 scanning", it gave me this error:"err:Network is down"If I use "ifconfig wlan0 up", it will give me this:"SIOCSIFFLAGS:No such file or directory"If I use "dhcpcd wlan0", Apr 29 06:22:42 moghedien rt73: probe of 4-1:1.0 failed with error -16 Apr 29 06:22:42 moghedien usbcore: registered new interface driver rt73 Apr 29 06:22:47 moghedien BUG: unable to handle kernel Thank you, Leandro [Attachment #3 (text/html)] Hi list,

I don't know why. Then: wlanconfig ath create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta See madwifi-ng site documentation.

To start ath0 in monitor mode: airmon-ng start wifi0 System responds: Interface Chipset Driver wifi0 Atheros madwifi-ng ath0 Atheros madwifi-ng VAP (parent: wifi0) (monitor mode enabled) Now enter “iwconfig” System responds: On Ubuntu, do “apt-get install madwifi-tools”. Why (in universe) are blade runners called blade runners? Thanks, dyle71 28-04-2008 03:55:27 Hello Vern, Thank you for reply!

See it's an old Dell C600 which just supports USB 1.1. If that doesn't work, build with debug enabled, then modbprobe with "debug=15" as a parameter, followed immediately with an rmmod.
