The drives are optimized for quick removal, but Norton Ghost seems to lock the drives in use when it's service is running. Chkdsk found 0 bad sectors, just cleaned up a few indexes. A colleague mentioned seeing a similiar error (event 57 but from fdisk instead of ntfs as the source) on a Windows XP machine recently.
