When I unchecked the box for "Enable GraphicsMagick support" the problem appears to have gone away. What sense of "hack" is involved in five hacks for using coffee filters? But when I remove the quotes added by escapeshellarg() function for the target image file path, it works from the shell - I know this is not an option, but somehow Include the ImageMagick version, OS, and any command-line required to reproduce the problem.
