external hard drive partition read error Faber, Virginia

Thanks in advance Kind Regards Pramod admin • October 8th, 2014 at 12:26 am Hi Pramod Does it give you the option of DEEPER SEARCH when you choose STOP? Hope this helps, James Jay • September 20th, 2014 at 2:50 pm Hi James, I'm running W8.1 I first got gsmartcontrol-0.8.7-win32.zip and unzipped in its downloaded location. RGM79 • September 27th, 2014 at 2:40 am Thanks a lot, my parents had a PC running Ubuntu with no backup when the computer somehow died. Wird verarbeitet...

I recommend doing a full format so that it looks at every sector to make sure that there is no damage. S.M.A.R.T with HDDSentinel indicates no physical damage. James anna • September 29th, 2014 at 1:02 am Hello admin, Partition table was not found even after deep search! Report • #3 briankp February 12, 2012 at 16:00:26 Thanks OtheHill for your reply. In Disk Management, the status of my ext disk shows as "Unknown 465.76GB Not Initialized".

Vijai admin • February 7th, 2013 at 2:17 am Hi Vijai No, you should not choose WRITE unless you see your files. How do computers remember where they store things? James JP • January 14th, 2013 at 5:04 am Thanks, James! Press Y to confirm the boot sector repair Then choose QUIT and press enter Regardless of whether a boot sector repair is required or not, you will end up at this

when i connect it using usb cable computer does not respond to the plug and play so i have to open once my computer and refresh to show the drives. Causes Unplug removable drive directly Many of us have made the mistake of unplugging external hard disk or USB flash drive directly from computer especially when the drive is still transferring I have USB-to-IDE/SATA adaptor and a new laptop running Windows 8.1. Please help , its urgent Raj • January 16th, 2013 at 8:29 pm Thanks i figured out.

The disk structure will be totally different in each case. I can see my files, but i do not currently have an extra 1Tb hard disk to store them in, and also i can't mount my hard disk. The drives them selves are not damaged. You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0 feed.

I managed to get an initramfs prompt once but no further that way. Next day I was not able to MOUNT my 950GB hard disk at all. If you did it anyway, it won't do much damage. James Kai • October 11th, 2014 at 12:16 pm Hi!

When I first plug it in, it's read as "unallocated" in GParted, and "fdisk -l" says "/dev/sdb doesn't contain a valid partition". Send this file to me at [email protected] and I will look at it to try and determine what the next step might be. Melde dich an, um dieses Video zur Playlist "Später ansehen" hinzuzufügen. There's other way to recover my partition table without transfering to another HD? I am not sure that I want to go that far with the Windows. I certainly understand that it can be confusing. In that case, data stored on bad sectors will be lost.

The process for doing this in TestDisk can be tedious so you may want to try using the free version of Recuva first. Downloaded Testdisk and followed the steps. The partition size is 931GB, which is normal. Can you please help? Thanks.

Computer problems are variable. When I went to that site and clicked download it gave me testdisk_win.exe I figured they just changed the name so ran it. Select WRITE and press enter in order to write our new partition table to the drive. What I did is I performed a clean format thinking that with the use of a number of recovery softwares I now have on hand like EaseUS Data Recovery, Icare data

MikeCroatia • September 24th, 2014 at 10:43 am Quick scan didn't find anything, so I started a Deeper scan. Common partition errors Invalid media type reading drive. Computer problems are variable. This tool worked real fine and got my HD visible again.

Ritchie Blogfried Pettauer • March 23rd, 2013 at 10:39 pm Hi James, first of all: thank you for this excellent guide! Insufficient power supply, also common for external drives. I was in the "write partition table" and clicked yes but the next option was to reboot my pc. But amongst so many software why choose ours?

Also, when I ran GSmartControl the program was unable to retrieve SMART data. Steve • March 8th, 2013 at 11:38 pm Hi Just a question about the quick search part, i have a 3tb seagate drive which i am trying to follow this procedure My external disk drive is 500GB Seagate Free Agent Go Flex Drive. May God bless you!

I've sent you an e-mail with screenshots for better visualization of my issues. I've got a 2tb WD external HDD and I'm currently doing a deeper scan, but it is extremely slow, its been scanning for around 48 hours and its only managed to If the backup boot sector is good (as in this case) simply choose BACKUP BS and press enter. I hope this is clear enough for you to figure out what have went wrong 😛 Melissa • February 3rd, 2013 at 1:27 am BTW, after i reboot it, I still

Wish I had better news, James Brent • October 3rd, 2014 at 1:53 pm Also, if it would be easier to communicate more quickly, I'd like to exchange emails. Thanks again! Is the NHS wrong about passwords? If this does not work, see the comment I made to Stagz on this page about how to copy files from the drive using TestDisk since you can see the files/folders

So, please if you can guide through the procces of copying the files to another HDD with TestDisk. Then click the round button and choose S.M.A.R.T. Run TestDisk and get to the screen that lists your disks. Note: If bad sectors are found on the drive during the process and chkdsk will try to repair them.
