When using a volume manager like Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM), copying between individual volumes created under this volume manager is safe, as VxVM avoids the VTOC issue by always excluding these In some cases (for example, raw image backup of a disk or metadevice) it is normal for applications to use disk partitions containing cylinder 0. What's the most recent specific historical element that is common between Star Trek and the real world? You get this error because Operating System does not recognize one of the disk drives. The format command then uses low level functions implemented in the device driver to access and write the vtoc. how can format access the disk without label? A Sun label should not be needed to see the disk in format unless something else is going on.
