Want to know which application is best for the job? I found no recent, working example on how to set up a read-only Samba server to share files to Windows users like an anonymous FTP server.

I can see if we can increase it to 10. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Previously I have been able to authenticate against it as well as map drives from it. Why would a password requirement prohibit a number in the last character?

Looks like it's password that is failing, which doesn't make sense if it's intermittent: check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [someuser] -> [someuser] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED Cory Coager (ccoager) wrote on 2010-03-11: I give my new password and get the following: smbldap_search_ext: base => [dc=my,dc=domain], filter => [(&(objectClass=ipaNTGroupAttrs)(|(ipaNTSecurityIdentifier=S-1----my--sid---)))], scope => [2] Attribute [displayName] not found. First thing, though: Can Samba share a directory with just "nobody" in /etc/passwd and not in its own database? From smb.conf (Samba 3): ... Thanks so far guys! The high amount of logging overloaded the system and made it unresponsive.
