Have resolved the problem by first doing a nmake distclean then a qmake -project to generate another .pro file. so basically I think that the instructions in the main readme should say to use the 2013 version and not the 2010 version. I missed it somehow...

and Visual Studio will compile it and thereby produce the CMarkup.obj file. Afterwards you should have the Markup.obj in your intermediate directory (that's what $(IntDir) stands for). Can two integer polynomials touch in an irrational point? Also other (minor) problems disappeared.
