excel error in distmon Cromwell, Oklahoma

Error message is now gone and the convert xls file to pdf button in Excel still works. See if it opens cleanly in normal mode and closes cleanly. It not only found the module location itself - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART - but found several shortcuts to it in various places. Here's what worked for me: Starting at C:, I searched for "pdfmaker" - without the xla extension.

Please help! Removing them all and performing the repair option as above cured the error.

I deleted the pdfmaker.xla file and Adobe 6.0. Casey noted above. The odd thing is it's only doing this with one profile on the computer. However, I have one PC that will not cooporate.

If You get it with every workbook you open it is most likely an addid. I took out Adobe 5.0, I think it was, because I've got Adobe Acrobat 6.0 and Adobe Reader 7.0. Sorry for any false hope. If the error stops then you just begin turning the addins on one by one until you get the error again then you will know which one is the guilty party.

Voila.. I think it has something to do ... Please try again later. I seached my C: drive, found the PDFMaker.xla file, deleted it, and Excel 2003 works without the error messages at opening and closing.

Microsoft Office is no stranger to error messages and the Office programs have their fair share of errors when running them or when even trying to open of the programs. The only thing for a layman like me is to know that these were in the hidden mode. I Deleted "PDFMaker.xla" and "PDFMaker.dot" from all the instances as mentioned by jhooda and Robert Caspe. After you deleted the file PDFMaker.xla, the error "Compile Error in Hidden Module: Distmon" at startup of Excel shouldn't appear.

I deleted both and the hash of distmon has been settled once and for all. Typically, PDFMaker.xla is stored in your profile directory: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART\PDFMaker.xla In other scenarios, PDFMaker.xla is stored in your Program Files directory. Reply Shyuan-Bai Yang says: October 26, 2009 at 11:19 am I found the PDFMaker.xla and deleted it. Following Follow Microsoft Excel 2010 Thanks!

THANKS! I've been bit removing things before, and have learned to rename instead of delete. You can also paste them in a different location if you wish. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 16.

Register Help Remember Me? Thanks. I removed it and it fixed the issue. See if it opens and closes cleanly.

All rights reserved. I did the Repair option under the help menu but, that wasn't the cure. Tried deleting XLStart, but after Excel ‘repaired' itself, same error. go figure!

The error has the following cause and solution: - There is a compilation error in the code of the specified module, but it cannot be displayed because the project is protected. Please try again later. First search found nothing until I checked that box… Reply Me says: October 27, 2009 at 3:29 pm I deleted the PDFMaker.xla and no longer have the error; howver, I no I didn't buy that answer.

Re: "Compile Error in Hidden Module: Distmon" (Anatoly_Tkach) Aug 5, 2007 11:25 PM (in response to (dork_92618)) Correction - the correct passes are as follows: C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART\pdfmaker.xla, and/or Try this: Close Excel Rightclick in any Folder (I would use the desktop) and select New/Excelfile Open that file Do you get the error? Open C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART, and delete the pdfMaker plugin file that is in that directory - it should resolve your problem.
