ford ranger error code p1443 Pineola, North Carolina

California Chapter Colorado Chapter Hawaii Chapter Idaho Chapter Montana Chapter Nevada Last edited by the_tow_guy; 05-26-05 at 09:06 AM. This Ranger only has 87K, miles and I want to keep it for a long time. Anyhow I really want to get around to fixing this.

The canister purge solenoid is in line to the purge canister. I figured I would go ahead and get the kit and replace everything, assuring that the new hoses are fit snug to the sensor and the solenoid. Checked engine Vacuum = 16 inches at idle. I really appreciate it.

Everybody online seems to list CP416 as a "canister purge valve" or "canister purge solenoid" but I think it's the Purge Flow Sensor. Can you by chance give me any info that I can use to assist them in locating it? I reset the CEL, and away I went. 30 miles later, the CEL cameon again. Thanks again!!

Thanks again for your time. So far, so good, no check engine light. i did change the hoses first but that did not work, so I bought the kit, it worked and passed the smog check with flying colors. + 0 - #12 If it doesn, the system passes the test.

Spring is finally here in the Finger Lakes, NY! I had a '94 2.5 that the solenoid got stuck open. The computer orders a canister purge by powering open a PURGE solenoid. Truck built in loving memory of Norm Howard Outcast Racing PNW Crew!!! The ford vacuum troubleshooting manual has a better one. padrejerry View Public Profile View Gallery Find all posts by padrejerry #7 12-01-2004, 01:38 AM padrejerry New User Join Date: Jun 2004 Posts: 24 Does anyone know where if that doesn't work replace. If it commands a vent or purge solenoid, it expects to see a change in vacuum. Less than two months ago, I purchased a used 1997 Ford Ranger XLT, Regular Cab (2.3 L I-4, 5 spd.).

The computer also watches the vacuum activity. It was from a name brand supplier and even had the Ford logo right on the part.

From my experience, and from what I have found in my research, if you get the P1443 code on a late 90's Ranger, this is the way to fix it. So I eventually bought a scan tool and I'm only getting one code which is P1443. Installation was easy. it is cheaper than the solenoid so do that first and see if it gets rid of the CEL.

I know what I need to do but I still have not had anyone answer me as to where do you find this purge valve kit? Luckily I'm not due for a smog check until next year cause from what I've read you won't pass the inspection if you ignore this problem.

You’ll find in-depth information, technical service bulletins, code definitions and step-by-step tests, and easy-to-understand wiring diagrams, along with descriptions of how the systems work. There are different part numbers depending on which engine you have, you can find that information here: __________________ '98 Ranger XLT 4x4 (4.0L) '94 Taurus SHO (MTX) '03 Sable LS Took it to Auto Zone for a free diag, came of P1443. I have the Haynes manual but its kind of tease since there aren't enough diagrams to know where stuff is. + 0 - #13 09-22-2010 snackdog Member I
