any other way to test??? It likely has a dual vane crank sensor to provide base timing for the spark plugs & a camshaft sensor for fuel injector timing. It started about 2 months ago and is progressively getting worse. Cleared codes, played the run it till it dies cycle 6 times or so pulled codes and 222 is gone but 224 is back.

Did a bunch more reading online, that 224 can also indicate a bad coil I guess the IDM (ignition diagnostic monitor) inside the ICM can detect that. On one of the intermittent lines, I pulled the plug wire from the top of the coil, thereby forcing the spark to jump from coil to wire. All of the code numbers in my OBD-II Manual start with a letter followed by four digits. Just to narrow things down a wee bit. Helped, but didn't fix it. Then an 02 sensor.

You can remove the wire from the plug and put a spark tester in it and crank the engine.If you do not have this tool you can use a screwdriver in Any ideas on what to check next.
