as far as the device manager and lenovo system toolbox the fingerprint scanner is working. I presume that both series are using same or similar drivers. ‘Please Wait' message is the result of OS being unable to communicate with the Finger Print device. It looks like its talking now for some reason. Also, though I don't know if it is related, Lenovo Thinkvantage Toolbox crashes every time I open it, around 20 times in the last 2 days.

Navigate to: Control Panel | User Accounts and Family Safety | User Accounts | Manage your fingerprint data Enroll your fingerprints and close the application. I contacted UPEK and they have helped me to get this working.  There are two things I needed to do: 1) Download the UPEK Windows 7 Beta software and drivers from Go to Settings > System Settings. If you would login using your username and password and try to open the Lenovo Fingerprint software, you'd get ‘Cannot communicate with sensor' message.

I can confirm the following.1. When I try to enroll, I get the following error message:Code:E7210005 Cannot enroll user.E7210005 Cannot update passport.E7210005 Cannot find fingerprint sensor device.The driver is installed and reports that the fingerprint sensor i think i will try your advice installing every driver for my computer one by one with restore points in between. it is the latest version at least according to its update feature 3.

i realized that i did not have service pack 2 reinstalled yet, so i got around to that and at the moment i am fully updated. Whenever I try to enroll a fingerprint, I get those same errors. Configuration software appears to be all in order, except if I go in to re-enroll my fingerprints it throws a "An internal error occurred (rpnp2: br-conn). When I boot to the original drive the fingerprint reader works fine.

The free version is lack some features but it will do for now. Didn't do a thing for me. Here is the catch. You will prompted to reboot for your changes to take effect. Once I created an additional administrator account, I was able to enroll fingerprints with the Windows 7 biometry software and with UPEK's software.
