I need to insert silence for those gaps to keep the audio in sync, and async does that for me. The source plays just fine. With TV streams, there are sometimes the odd gap in the audio stream. Unfortunately, it seems to be confused by the change in audio channel layout and adds far more than it should. Can I buy my plane ticket to exit the US to Mexico?

FFmpeg gives the information: that the *codec frame rate differs from container frame rate*. I tested the following three command lines: $ ffmpeg -i ORIG_short.ts -qscale 2 -acodec ac3 -ac 6 out.avi $ ffmpeg -i ORIG_short.ts -qscale 2 -mbd 2 -ac 2 -acodec mp2 out.ts As for the file I provided, it really only demonstrates the audio change confusion, but not really why I use async. I did the same video manipulation to generate merleHaggert.mpg.

I want to start trimming at specific frames, and the only way to do that is to fix the stream first using the above commandline. Why are you adding -async 48000? To get a file that only contains the audio gaps, use the following cmd: ffmpeg -i "Ticket2210.ts" -vcodec copy -acodec copy -ss 00:01:33.000 "gaps.ts" Then run the following cmd on "gaps.ts": If you have to have h.264 I'd recommend going with an mp4 container as it's far more compatible than avi, on the other hand if the requirement is an avi container Is there a role with more responsibility?
