It is possible that the problem is in the camera, that the cable connector of the card reader is not making proper connection. Any ideas on how to re-format or erase the disk to get rid of the FAT error? I have a f717 and use a 1 GB Memory stick pro. In some cases removing and reinserting the memory card several times can fix this issue.

At Sony they dont seem to know the c1301 code. What really strikes me as strange is that none of the other sites I looked at mentioned cleaning the contacts as even one of the possible solutions. Exception are those photos used in some blog entries with specific notes that link back to the image source and its copyright information. Loaded a brand new stick into a Sony DSC-P50. I have seen hundreds of posts on this problem but none on the fix. Bad news is that i dont know about how to recover the M stick data. Fix Two: We will try to make sure that there is a proper connection between the contacts on the memory card and the camera.
