This should see at least something like /dev/sda. The stability of the drive is not affected, it's just a partition issue. I tend to believe it's a cfdisk by now. And what about "double-click"?

I'm not sure if this is the cause. I was hoping that after 'partitioning' (aka entering cfdisk and exiting, seeing as the drive is already partitioned the way I want it) it would give me the option to choose You should be able to re-partition normally after this.
