flash_erase input/output error Ojo Feliz, New Mexico

global debugfs flagYes, I guess option 1 is the best I think. Again care needs to betaken, as you may loose information about blocks that have gone bad throughwear. (The recent patch "mtd: nand: write BBM to OOB even with flash-based BBT"partly overcomes At present, Ihave to scrub the block in question, scrub the BBTs, and then reboot to force arescan/rebuild of the BBTs. (This is fairly simple to do, but does risk loosinginformation Perhaps moving it tosysfs might be cleaner? In any case, I will wait for advice from David and Artem before commencing. (Iam away next week, so it will have to wait until

Thanks again, Bodhi. The flash erases with no errors from U-boot, so I'm not concerned that the part or its connections are bad.

I have built and uploaded a newer u-boot version, but not officially released. done, booting the kernel.Linux version 3.0.35-2666-gbdde708 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.6.2 20110630 (prerelease) (Freescale MAD -- Linaro 2011.07 -- Built at 2011/08/10 09:20) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Aug 16 14:34:30 CST Any help would be much appreciated! Without serial console, it is not possible to set the envs explicitly to allow booting with this u-boot version.

Warning: If for whatever reasons the steps above were not successful in booting for you, then you will need serial console to recover. The NAND flash is a Micron 512 MB part. If you did, plug in the USB drive, mount it to /tmp and get the listing of ls -latr /tmp/sda1/boot BTW, and you have not rebooted after you install u-boot image, I haven't created a custom board resource file yet, but I don't think that the serioal flash would affect anything since those partitions are created after the partitions on the parallel

Every time you run this command "grep -a --null-data U-Boot /dev/mtd0ro" , you will get a bunch of NAND errors like that. That leavesinventing another IOCTL, or perhaps adding another file mode, which wouldachieve per-file-descriptor scope, if not per-erase-request.My approach was largely motivated by the desire not to change the existing ABI,and/or mtd-utils. why stop mtd1 at 0x3e0000 ? And succesfully writing to flash (83%) but could not write to memory where is spl I think (maybe need special access to unlock it?) Or only solution is jtag? I have tried JFFS2, UBIFS and YAFFS2 but all experience the same issue - which makes me think that the issue is with the mtd driver. We do have a m25p128 serial flash instead of m25p16.
