Run 'which gcc34' - presumably it will say not found. reading through the definition of `\cfrac` in AMSMath how can you tell if the engine is not brand new? Now, running a: # gcc-config -l
[1] x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.7.3 * gives an appropriate selection to allow that version of gcc to compile. Search this Thread 06-14-2011, 10:36 AM #1 MarcusWebb1966 Member Registered: Mar 2011 Posts: 58 Rep: emerge anything results in error in compiler Ok it all started when I found

I'm not saying to do this yet but if no one posts a fix, you may have to try that route. Then I was told to emerge portage. http://htk.eng.cam.ac.uk/ - 1 members found this post helpful. Great idea, uh?

This failed because it said there was a dependency on python. 'No problem' I thought, I'll just emerge python. Well, I don't really know why, but I uninstalled sys-devel/binutils. Have *no* idea why this enabled (is it default?). Check that things work and the first thing you should do after that is emerge binutils to build that package properly and record it in your world file. Either way, fixing the issue reported there should bring your compiler back to life and keep you emerging in the future.

i686-pc-linux-gnu > checking target system type... Any ideas to fix? Those variables were clearly wrong so I amended CFLAGS and they all followed suit. Type "make all" to build the HTK libraries and tools. I couldn't even run basic commands (ls, cp, etc.) I had to untar a functional glibc from another system (as well as a few other packages) to even get it to Then "make install" to install them. What I was doing was preparing my system for Xen and I was duped into adding the “—mno-tls-direct-seg-refs” option to my CFLAGS.
