Unfortunately, the Apache Geronimo server that WASCE uses as its base appears to occasionally have port conflicts with some of it's CORBA/Naming services on startup.

For reference, for others running across this thread on a web search following WASCE startup failures, here's the Apache Geronimo (which WAS CE is based on) description of the port configuration

If you want to experiment with recent, unreleased, trunk builds, you can try a download from https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/snapshots/org/apache/geronimo/assemblies/geronimo-tomcat7-javaee6-web/3.0-SNAPSHOT/ (or similar location for the assembly of your choice). I assume we'll figure out why startLocalConsole=true is needed. When I come across 'Port already in use: xxxx', restarting Eclipse session currently in use and trying to run again usually helps me to get rid of it. Please consider this email important and thanks in advance.

It amazes me that something that should be so simple, can become so damn complicated. Hide Permalink Antonio Nobre added a comment - 10/May/11 09:32 Hi Keaven, I fixed the problem with one new installation of server. If yes, and that still didn't help, then I suggest a WAS CE and/or Geronimo forum/mailing list might help. M1 is pretty dated.

Windows allocates ports from 1024 upwards for things like web browsers and this port may be in use already. There were no application using the 1050 port, but it dont matter anymore.
