Could it be the 10A fuses that I have put on the 5V line? He knows the schematics off by heart IIRC? So you didn't fix anything in the end. Doesn't include batteries, board interconnects, or slot connectors. (Plus shipping) There is a one slot version of the board, MV1B I think (I forget which exactly) that will give that error

Replacing the Z80 may be difficult, the one on the board seems to be a compatible chip that's a lot smaller than a normal Z80, I wasn't sure if it was Reply With Quote 05-01-2011,01:24 AM #7 IDCHAPPY View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries View Articles The Mad Jock Join Date Oct 2009 Location Edinburgh, Scotland Posts 3,403 Sounds like Powered by vBulletin™ Copyright © 2016 vBulletin Solutions, Inc. Either way the old bios must have been faulty because I don't get the green blocky screen on boot now (from what I know the boot screen is in the bios Quote Postby Rossyra » June 1st, 2012, 10:43 am MrSandman wrote:Rossyra wrote:Where will he get a replacement IC? Seems this is what happens when you take the word of someone who apparently know what they are doing as correct.

The last time I had a Z80 error (on an MV-1F board) the problem was that the battery had leaked and ate some nearby traces. Good luck with your repair. Is the cart and slot clean and making good contact?Do you have a UniBIOS? I'm calling a repair guy tomorrow and I'll post the results when I get a chance. Would it be worth replacing this chip with a TMPZ84C00AM-8 (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Z80/Toshiba-TMPZ84C00AM-8.html) which runs at 8 MHZ?

Even if I am wrong and it does run at 4Mhz, a Z80A is *actually* rated for 4Mhz so it is NOT working on the wrong frequency. If that doesn't help, start by checking the continuity of the Z80 connections (this is best done with the plastic cover off):MV1FZ CPU2 Z8001 A11 GU6 (13), SM1 (25), CN1 (28B), WiedergabelisteWarteschlangeWiedergabelisteWarteschlange Alle entfernenBeenden Wird geladen...
