Is intelligence the "natural" product of evolution? up vote 73 down vote favorite 19 When I build my c++ solution in Visual Studio 2008 it complains that the xxxxx.pch file is missing. Put a file named stdafx.cpp into your project. The compiler, when it encounters this special header, reads the corresponding .pch file instead.

my tip is wrong? Turn off precompiled headers. If you set /Yc on every file, your compile will be very, very, very, very, very, very slow. Under the DLL folder mentioned above, you will find subfolders for each build variant (The instructions above made two, debug and release.) In each variant folder you'll find a 'wx' folder I'm not quite sure what you mean by an example.

That is not C++. This one is six years old. I had deleted "stdafx.cpp", then when I added it back, this error would not go away until I switch off precompiled headers. If the search path described by the INCLUDE environment variable is not set correctly, a C1083 error is generated. I am running visual c++ 2010 express. The /X compiler option can be used to exclude directories from the include file search path.
