My honest guess is, Western Digital probably doesn't follow the exact S.M.A.R.T spec. The ReadyNas is connected to the Active Directory environment and the shares were set up accoriding to the article from Netgear. The tools generally work with HDDs of all manufacturers but that doesn't mean that they have make their competitors look good while doing. Is this a cause for concern?
