Use your hand to pull out the disc tray slowly if it does not open on its own and then reseat the disc. I looked underneath but did not see any plastic pin grounded on the floor. I've had two DVD players stop working in this way, but never figured out why because the repair cost was much more than to just buy a new player. The dvd compartment doesn't even turn, but the screen works beautifully.
