I do not have access to change anything on the server, but it works fine with other FTP clients. Dark_Tranquility 2012-06-06 10:50:27 UTC #6 With HostGator settings you don't need to set the port.As a host name use: your domain .com simply not the URL of the server? I usually leave the "port" empty. Unless they changed that recently!check the welcome mail they sent you.

I don't know if that is okay. Please any suggestions on how I can achieve this? Many thanks to you guys for all the assistance. I have also double checked with hostgator and the rep is insisting that the he was able to login effectively with the same cpanel username/password I am using. All else fails you can use the "File Manager" within cPanel (also found under files) to get the job done but I would suggest double checking with your host about FTP Even the "file manager" doesn't work.

Or, from the CPanel create another FTP Account and test it.Also check if your firewall isn't blocking FileZilla! Make sure FileZilla is allowed to connect through it without any limits. If not, what are you trying to connect to?

I also keep getting "Error: Connection timed out" - my upload is only 128kbps but I close down all other programs etc. Do you have a web hosting account? It's a difficult bug to squash I'll bet. I have found that if I go to the view menu and click refresh that sometimes it will reconnect and the directory listing will work but sometimes it won't. Thanks ralph.mI just contacted hostgator and the rep walked me through the manual transfer through the cpanel. When setting up FileZilla, did you specify a folder to upload to, such as /public_html/ ?

I specified a different install folder, ...\FileZilla2. Please read , it explains in great detail how to solve this issue. It doesn't happen in FileZilla version 2 and I can connect and do a file listing on this server with KFTPGrabber so it seems to be an issue with FileZilla 3. Reload to refresh your session.

I was wondering if it will be okay to to un-install the Filezella client and re-install it again. Off Topic:PS - just post your question once. You signed out in another tab or window. Double check those and veify with your host provider! I'm not very familiar with FileZilla (only having used it a few times on a Mac) but it's usually very straightforward to connect to the host via FTP. I let it keep retrying and eventually it works. Not sure if this is because of a setting in the client, or a problem with the server, or what... What is the fix?

Here are some things I found: An article on various important things and issues with FileZilla: and some discussions My other question would still be whether or not you are uploading It also does'nt also display the normal ticks that displays on top when the ftp client connecting with server.
