gecko os disk read error West Minot, Maine

I hope our post is helpful to others who have this issue. All you have to do is run the cIOS rev 7 installer then try booting your backup via the gamma boot loader. Your data is likely safe and sound. No idea what that's about either.Edited 1 time(s).

There was lots of dust inside so i cleared that all out.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 AMD Athlon X2 6000+ Seagate ST3500320AS Asus M2N I'll mention EVERYTHING that might have something to do with the problem, just for reference for possible solutions. The first 3 attempts gave me the same result. At least now I know there is no easy fix without investing a lot of time and will quit wasting time on it. Run CHKDSK /R /P from the recovery console (it will typically find no error) 2.

If I booted the flash drive with DOS, I got a blue screen that said it shut windows down to prevent damage to the computer while installing XP. Thanks for everyone's input in this thread, you helped me a great deal. If you put your drive into another computer, or connecting it as a slave on your own computer, it will typically work fine, and no data is missing. I typed up these instructions from memory, so be sure to work carefully with Diskpart and make sure before you put in a command.

Yes, my password is: Forgot your password? I was on my PC working away when suddenly a blue screen came up, the PC restarted and I got the Disk Read Error, press Ctrl Alt Delete to restart. The problem typically evades all forms of detection. I did come across a problem Windows sometimes has with the windows disk cache write failure with large hard drives but don't know how to verify that issue.

Unplug your black ops headset or any USB.5. Because this error is not usually associated with data loss, DO NOT RE-PARTITION THE DRIVE. Run the manufacturer's diagnostic utility, downloaded from their website (it will typically find no error) 5. The disk is fine and yet it's useless!

I want to also mention that the error first appeared after I upgraded the 30gb PATA drive to a Western Digital 250gb PATA drive and re-imaged it. This time, I installed Comodo IS and updated Windows (with many restarts) and, finally, installed CTM and shut the PC down. I dried it off with a shirt, is it safe to plug in? Ran the DLCDIAG utilty from WD and it gave the drive a clean bill of health, no errors. 2.

It seems kind of crazy to re-install everything the hard way when it's all right there but what else can I do? mbokon e davlak 3 August 2010 19:13:09 in my experience "A disk read error occurred" has nothing to do with the health of HD or damaged file system, but is a but canceled it and decided I'd do it later at night (might or might not have anything to do with the problem). the newest version loads the game on the IOS that would ussually be used when booted through the disk channel.

If it were a BIOS error it seems unlikely it would always read "A Disk Read Error..." identically for all BIOS's across all manufactures. The issue certainly is not Gecko OS or Ocarina if the games don't launch from the disc channel.Reply QuoteWaxyPumpkin72 Re: Disc not Reading????!!! its worth to try.. trouble_28 16 February 2010 00:39:49 I regularly image drives using another pc. Ask ! so... Now I am using Lenovo quick start to find a solution (bless them for writting two OSes to one PC).

I tried uninstalling the CIOS with AnyTitle Deleter but I get a error ticket delete failed -102 whenever I try to delete anything and it doesn't work. Brawl, by any chance?Reply QuoteArikado Re: Disc not Reading????!!! ok i burned a game onto a dvd-r and neogamma gives me error 1167 "read disk error" but i know that its not the lens problem because it will play non-burned Newer Than: Search this thread only Search this forum only Display results as threads Useful Searches Recent Posts More...

I am guessing it is the registry because it is being written to and for some reason the process does not complete. Is this the only solution and furthermore, will this rectify the issue. The problem typically evades all forms of detection. Google time.

All Rights ReservedTom's Hardware Guide ™ Welcome, Guest. faithfulnathan 7 September 2010 11:24:26 Hi all, I fixed mine by going to the BIOS, BOOT settings, HARD DISK DRIVES, and switching the order of the drives around - ie. most of the times it's due to a HIGH TEMPERATURE of the CPU, even if transient. I was convinced to be the only one with this particular problem of the error happening only after a reboot when the disk seems to work fine initially.

All of that went nice and well, except it booted to the Homebrew channel and there was nothing, contrary to what all youtube tutorials showed. I can assess all partitions except the NTFS partition where Windows 7 lives. But Gamma supports Ocarina so why don't you just turn that on in the options?
