It's a spurious message which Microsoft has given us developers no means to address. To apply fill effects to your chart, refer to Using Fill Effects in Excel and PowerPoint. In Classic Excel, the utility places a new item, Add Error Bars, at the bottom of the chart series context menu. Upon click it will automatically show positive & negative and X & Y axis Error Bars in the chart.
