fan error lenovo x301 Hettick, Illinois

I was concerned the hairdryer would damage other parts, but all seems to be fine. The fan that I ordered didn't consist of piece that covered my graphics cards. Someone with an X61 has to be willing to remove the keyboard and take a look inside. My T43p with new fan will power on but after 15 seconds it shuts off without warning.

IBM & Lenovo | 172 Let's say you have an IBM ThinkPad laptop and when you turn it on all you get is a black screen with "Fan error" message. Wähle deine Sprache aus. You don't want to overheat the video chip. I shut it off, closed the lid, held the fan outlet to my mouth and blew as hard as i could.

Was this answer helpful? Du kannst diese Einstellung unten ändern. Many a times it gets its screen shut apparently and then the CPU stops working in next 15 seconds. If it does a strange noise, it's the bearings.

IML Tech January 3, 2010 | SME, Its kind of hard for me to describe, but my laptop seems to be different than the maintenance manual and the picture above. At first it really didn't seem like it was going to budge but as soon as it came loose the fan slid out nicely.

Try removing memory modules one by one and test the laptop with each module separately. I was very stressed out with this computer. I ordered a new fan and installed it today. Person using comp continued to run it at about 15-35 minute intervals.

X6x Tablet ThinkPad X2/X3/X4x Series incl. Although it took much longer (around 1 minute, as opposed to 10 seconds), eventually the fan did start speeding up and right when it kicked into top speed, the laptop shutdown. Perhaps many T42’s were assembled incorrectly, and they didn’t peel off the pink sheet when they were supposed to? I don't know what the magic combination of key presses is, but I decided to give it a try based on an earlier comment that mentioned this technique. Is there a movie version? :) I know what you mean, the step by step is not specific to the fan, it's still removing everything to get to it, including LCD you could also install the hard drive in a different computer and boot it with a linux live usb drive or dvd, and access you drive that way if the other

If even after this you get a fan error, than the fan is really broken and dont try anything else, just replace. For some reason, taking apart my laptop is not something that I am inspired to do. The fan is a Delta DC Brushless fan Model Number EFB0612HA. Hi!

Jaimie IML Tech January 6, 2009 | Jaimie, My machine type is 2378…where do I find out if it is a T40p, etc.?? It takes hours to create one disassembly guide and only a minute to donate. 172 Responses Pilou May 20, 2008 | Hi guys I have a Fan Error on my T40p Also, backups. At this point, follow the reassembly instructions per service manual.

IML Tech November 19, 2009 | Rob, I looked at it and noticed the output is 4.5a while the adapter for the laptop is 3.5a. I am seeing many “long heatsinks” on ebay that aren’t the same FRU #. Whenever this happened I would unplug it, remove the battery, wait a few seconds, replace the battery, plug it in and then restart the unit. It doesn't matter what I do at startup - within 10 seconds it will shut down. What should I do?

I didn't realize and I applied OS optimized default first. They couldn’t get it loose. Thanks Bander for the tip in your comment. permalinkembedsaveparentgive gold[–]Creshal13¦E330/535¦T40/410/460¦T420s¦T430u¦T60/440p¦X60/201t¦X220/230¦… 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago(1 child)…the HMM literally has a step by step, pictured guide, that shows every single damn screw and latch.

Buying a replacement (internal) fan seems to be what I was looking for. It has been softly humming, and SpeedFan actually showed a drop from 52C to 43C the moment I plugged in AC power (which seems counterintuitive to me). Any advise? and one fan spins during BIOS for a small period of time while the smaller fan does not spin at all.

IML Tech March 31, 2009 | LewlnMadrid, The same problem just happened to a fellow worker. If you replaced the old fan with a know good new one but still get the same error message, apparently there is a problem with the motherboard. It seems the touchpad is an important part of the circuit and if it is disconnected, there is excess current supplied to the CPU, which overheats it. Thank you.

When I reattached it, I forgot to slide the hardware swith for the battery from "unlocked" to the "locked" icon. I just turned it one for about ten minutes ocne, but then it shut off and began to say "FAN ERROR", again. Any ideas?? Thanks August 22 by Christine Loafman Worked for me too blow very hard until you here the fan spin.

These vents are used for CPU fan exhaust.Step 4Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol.Step 5Swab away any external dust or dirt from the fan vents. Vineet April 4, 2009 | I have a refurbished IBM Thinkpad T40. The fan is not just a fan, but also a liquid-cooled set of pipes from the CPU to the fins that the fan cools. If it is, carefully push on the video card.

Go to Solution. Jerry September 4, 2008 | Well, I managed to purchase the fan that promply arrived one day later. It had a noisy fan so I took apart the laptop to try to clean it (I did have the glued / stuck thermal grease issue as mentioned elsewhere here, but has anybody an idea what has happened?

A bottle of Isopropyl alcohol and cotton buds are good for cleaning, but not on the screen. Turn on the computer and you will get the same error..
