failed to open /var/lib/samba/secrets.tdb error unable to open secrets database Hailey, Idaho

I've moved all the oft-written bits to tmpfs or to physical disks, but samba is giving me trouble. Run mkdir WHATEVER/IT/SAYS/IS/MISSING Chad West (yesterdayjones) wrote on 2014-07-24: #3 I just saw the title of the post. i hav all service running. I assume you are starting the various modules through the Services application, also accessible as system-config-services?

But i'm having few problems as well. I configured everything manually. I wouldn't be too concerned about Swat not showing Samba as started, it maybe that it is not updated to seeing Fedoras new way of starting services. Perhaps have a look in the log files in /var/log/samba to see if any of them log any reasons for the failure.

Samba and Gnome (Nautilus) do things slightly different. But Samba fails to start and according to the log is still looking for /var/lib/samba/secrets.tdb So, does anyone know where I can change the location of the secrets file? Perhaps have a look in the log files in /var/log/samba to see if any of them log any reasons for the failure. That is the home of Gnome created configs.

Is there any job that can't be automated? Did Sputnik 1 have attitude control? Have you tried running the program testparm on your smb.conf file to see if it recognises any errors. This > # allows Samba to collate browse lists between subnets.

I don't know if it would cause this problem, but Live-CD versions of Fedora ta least don't install all of the Samba programs you might need. I might also try removing all of your samba files, and any config files, and then reinstall. I have attached my log; though, there aren't any red entries when I view the syslog in unMENU.I am running version 4.7-beta1.Thanks for any advice,ScottI don't see anything in your syslog Results 1 to 7 of 7 Thread: [SuSE 11.4] Samba won't work Thread Tools Show Printable Version Subscribe to this Thread… Display Linear Mode Switch to Hybrid Mode Switch to Threaded

I have actually edited /etc/samba/smb.conf directly. for this i need to setup samba, i already install samba related packages. This includes exactly what steps you followed (eg. Here's my samba log. For a samba installation to work, it requires both the "smb" and the "nmb" services to be running.

i start all the service including nmb, even after that i'm still getting following output: Code: Connection to localhost failed (Error NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED) any idea? __________________ -Proud to be a Linux User
